What is the Absolute Cheapest Simplest Multi-Track Recording Set-Up?

Not interested in FX, MIDI, etc. Just audio tracks for getting down a rough demo.

I'd say a Zoom before a tablet.

 

Any inexpensive model come to mind that is easy and fast and fun to use?

 

Nothing wrong with tablets, if youre only recording audio, but you need class compliant audio interface. Ive done on both Android and ios. Audio evolution on Android and cubasis on ios.
What os fire runs on?

Edit: it seems it has an Android based os, so basically you should be able to run audio evolution, dont know if Amazon has it though.

My friend swears by his h4n pro for recording rehearsals of his band, but they have refreshed that product line to 'h4 essential' it seems

 

What kind of stuff youre recording? Like acoustic performances, live band or just e-guitar and mic?

If only 2 tracks, esi neva uno is good and cheap choice for tablet, works both Android and ios

For these rough demo tracks it will be a click track beneath standard rock instruments, i.e., Guitar (electric or acoustic), bass, vocals.

 

Check if your app store has audio evolution, then you just need class compliant audio interface with enough inputs. You can also buy cheap Android tablet for the purpose, if the fire tab doesn't qualify..

 

I spoke with the developer of Audio Evolution . . . won't work with Amazon Fire Tablet, but will work with some iPads and iPhones. Thanks for the tip. I'll research more.
