Cubase 13 lag and audio/video stutter

    Did you check CPU performance (Speed) in Task manager when using Cubase? It could be throttled for any reason (temperature etc..) If this is the case you can try to use ThrottleStop app and disable (uncheck) BD Prochot.

    Especially, if you have wireless, this caused me headaches few years back.. You can even make shortcut on desktop for network adapter to easily disable it, when not needed, that´s what I did with my former computer

    Oh, sorry. ThrottleStop is Intel only, I just saw you are using AMD. I don't know if there is some equivalent for AMD cpu.

    Yes sounds similar both probably using lots of bandwidth, mine being with the LAN built in Network Adaptor. I created a Shortcut too so I could right click and disable/enable

    Now this is not a fix. But i gotta write this.
    You shouldn't. It may kill your cpu on the long run. Throttling drops the cpu's clock speed when it overheats, thus it allows it to cool down. When this is disabled your cpu does NOT cool down and all sorts of unpleasant artifacts will occur sooner or later.
    First, you need to know what the bios settings on your comp for this are. From BIOS go to the Advanced tab and then AMD overclocking and find the Thermal Limits Tab. There you will see what the setting is for your cpu. I.E. it might be 70 degrees Celcius. Now you can change the limit to something like 90C, so it doesn't start throttling at 70C as in the example, but only and if only you have a 3rd party cooler that is capable to maintain your cpu cool enough under full load. Max safe zone for continuous full load is somewhere 65-75C with 85 C being total max and if it hits 90C your cpu should be allowed to throttle back to safer temps.
    I saw you wrote you have a liquid cooler but that says nothing really as there are tiny single, dual, triple radiators etc. Your AIO CLC should also be controlled and monitored properly so you know it actually does what it's supposed to do.
    Also keep in mind that the amount of ram you have installed takes a constant toll on that mobo's poor VRM and your cpu's memory controller and this may be another culprit for artifacts, especially if your case is not well ventilated and ram runs very hot. The VRM on this mobo is on the cheapo side and it will probably run at 80-85C all the time even under half load. It can handle it but it's still toasty.
    So you might need this much ram for sampled instruments etc., but i bet that you will run out of cpu long before you ever run out of memory. In simpler words, 128gb ram + Ryzen 5 3600 is quite the mismatch.

    Do you use nvidia studio drivers for the card? The gaming crap is known for issues

    It is kind of a fix actually. An upgrade is always on the table. What's weird is that everything was working fine and this proyect isn't as big as other past proyects.
    Now that you talk about RAM, I remember a few weeks back I increased the instrument preload size on Kontakt because I was getting disk 100% usage and it kinda fixed it. But it worked fine for a while, so I'm not sure if that's the culprit at this moment.

    Hi again. Well, the worse part in your hardware is the mobo. In general the sub 150 eu/dlrs Asus boards are a lame excuse for Asus that they also cover the low end market. Your mobo is 100% geared towards budget gamers or office work and not much else. Certainly not for DAW. Personally, as a guy who builds pcs as a means of a second income for too many years now, i would look for a board with a VRM solution that can really handle heavy cpu loads and it was the first thing i'd change when looking for an upgrade and not necessarily the cpu, which would be second on my list. Cpu wise, something beefier like a 3900X or even a 5900X would make a difference in performance with your setup (128gb ram hehe) but only if the mobo changes first. As you are now you are mainly driving the system to its knees, so to speak hehehe.
    Don't mean to disagree with good ol' @Legotron. Too many times i heard this. The studio drivers and game ready drivers are essentially identical. The only difference is game drivers are out regularly every month or so and this means most of the times they haven't been tested thoroughly. Meaning half the times they are beta drivers. Studio drivers are released 3-4 times a year, so they had the time to be tested more and iron out occasional bugs that appear with early versions of the game driver, thus they are qualified for stability getting the WHQL certification. Otherwise we 're talking about the very same driver.
    So, if you either go for a game ready driver that has a WHQL certification or a studio driver, it is more or less the same thing.

    After several days of having changed my WiFi adapter I can almost certainly conclude that was the culprit. There's still some stutter when playing sections with a lot of VST and plugins but it looks like the worst has been fixed. Thank you for your suggestions!
