I'm trying to find a way to get access to the wonderful synthesizer Hartmann Neuron. I had the VS software version when it was released and the hardware synth got discontinued/bankrupt, which doesn't seem very long ago, after all, but it won't work with my DAW.

Is there a way to either get to access the old software data in way to make it usable in a modern DAW, or to obtain the same synth in a remodeled fashion to get to record with it again?

does it count as a warez request if the software would be free if they hadn't lost the source code?

The original Windows version was one of the last Radium releases. It was a memory leaking terrible plugin. The actual synth was one of the most hyped up product failures in synthesizer history. Other than being valuable to collectors, I'm not sure why anyone would bother with it now.

Yes, the available version for Windows consumed RAM endlessly. And the sounds in it are kinda inapplicable, abstract.

It's available on the Russian Site(tm).

I tried it some time ago but had hell of a bad time with modern displays. Wasn't worth the effort for me to figure it out.

And the news website as well. I remember people setting it up on multiple machines on their own LAN, and doing things to juggle it, around the memory leak. Then they had the stupid Nuke controller in case you wanted your synth to work like an Atari.

If you wanted a modern synth to make these same kinds of abstract, thin, evolving digital patches, you could get an ASM Hydrasynth for about 10k less now. The only other oddball synth priced the same way as the Neuron is now (pure rarity vs usefulness) is the Ensoniq Fizmo.
!0 grand for a SP-1200 doesn't sound so silly when you compare it with a $7K Fizmo.

I haven't verified but saw reports that reaper somehow worked around the crashes/leak. not that I understand how that could be possible

is the memory leak really a problem still? 1 gb ram may have been standard at the time, we now have 32 or 64 typically,
a lot of mb to leak.

Only one way to find out. I do not think it is going to be even remotely acceptable performance. But it probably can't hurt to try. The only release I see is actually from Delirium, 20 years ago so maybe my memory which group released is not exactly perfect. :guru:

    in their nfo:

Special Note: you will find this software very buggy and unstable, memory leaking
    problems with automation etc ...

feel free to report it to hartmann but dont blame it on the crack

    Jbridge
Reaper (which supports x86, x64, vst2, vst3, dx, OSes from XP to 11)
Try something like blue cat audio, ddmf metaplugin, maybe way older versions don't know.
Or write some parts in reaper, render and paste into your daw, or mix the song, import to reaper, play above the mixed song and master then in your main daw. Same project sample rate, render same sample rates, 32 bit float or more.

I have been around the block with the Radium WIN VST x86 release.
    You may jBridge it.
I found a trick that stopped the memory leak! : Load a jBridged instance, load a second j Bridged instance, delete / remove the 1st instance. The remaining instance isn't leaking. You can see it's true for yourself in Task Manager.

Neuron is not worth the effort, but if you're hellbent, I can sympathize. I had to know myself. I even made new models to make new sounds from.

The sphere and most other parameters are available and may be manipulated via MIDI, you have to dig into the control mapping area of your daw. I found them in the automation parameter selection list.

But it's not worth it. Not from a music production standpoint. It's too too much work.

Maybe someone could fix it, like they did for the Emu-X for pc.

Or if not repairable, in 2024; hook it to an auto-sampler like Logic's, or Sample Robot. Make a Kontakt library of it like the Emu Proteus ones. Then use it's sounds without having to deal with a bad plugin. It is the ultimate ugly duckling synth.
