Slightly off topic, still VSX based tho. I got the basic package with the free two room offer. I had no luck with the latest installer due to a wine issue but 2.x older version installed fine. I noticed you get ALL the rooms in the 2.x version. (It is using the older algo mind you)
Out of curiosity I went ahead and made different project templates for each room in reaper and strangely when I got version 4 working I found all the pay walled rooms worked fine if opened from my templates but were still unavailable in the plugin room browser. I thought it interesting they all still worked fine, not that I use them at all..
That said OP I am happy with my purchase as I don't have a studio space anymore and though I do not operate professionally any more I still enjoy the buzz of a "good" mix experience. These do it for me and in fact I am achieving better results in my living room with my kids running around than I ever did in the studio!

isn't that a perfect recipe for phase Problems? i would only use this to figure out
what's wrong in the mix and fix it.
If you cant manage with Volume, Eq, Comp, Stereo + some Envelopes
there is something else wrong, like structure, sound or even tonal problems

Great mixes done on HPs without experience with good monitoring? After all these years I still need to see a prove, to believe it.
It works the other way around: you learn how the setup in your room translates, then you can use headphones, too.

Grammy winner XY is using HPs 99% of the time, therefore you, who have never worked with good monitoring and therefore you don't know how the details have to behave and sound to translate well to other systems, you who is not willing to invest in monitoring, I have great news for you:

You only need to buy my headphones with binaural rendering and your mixes can become as professionally sounding, as if you were working in these amazingly sounding studios. We even show you photos of these cool studios to support your imaginaton...

That our headphones are falling apart after some time? Don't worry! Isn't that worth it working in a million Dollar studio? The mediocre build quality is in no way a reflection that the HPs are very cheaply produced and cheap parts and manufactoring is in no way indicative of the tolerances used for the drivers. Look at these photos, do these sound cheap? :winker:

And music consists only of bass?
That's the experience behind product reviews.
    I mean I don't even...

To be a bit less sarcastic and more helpful:
It is good to take the time to learn sound profiles, but they should be used for very specific details only. In the above example, to check the bass. But once you have learned how the bass of your reference mixes sounds on these profiles, there is no need to try to judge the mix on these horribly sounding profiles.

Same is true for the upper range. For example to check if cymbals have no more remaining hard transients or pokey treble, I love MixChecker's 'Micro Silver' profile. If tambourines or hhts sound gentle and smooth as butter on these here, I know that they ARE smoothly sounding everywhere.

But listening to music on this profile? It would be like torture, just like all these club- or car-profiles...

I have owned VSX for a few months. I have a farily good mixing environment and I own Sienna. Speaking from my experience, those are the best 400 bucks I've put in the studio. The rooms may sound unusual, especially if you are familiar with properly treated rooms, and the headphones themselves can't compete with other headphones (like 650s or 770s, for instance). However, it is a system. You have to get used to it and learn it like any mixing environment. From that viewpoint, you get a trustworthy, constant mixing environment. You can use other references alongside, or you can mix on a trip or on the road if so you wish. All I can tell you is that my clients are happier than ever with my mixes. BTW, I can drive the VSX headphones from the phone jack of my Macbook or the headphone output of my Apollo, and they work pretty much the same for my ears.

Language question: Does that mean you don't have VSX anymore? (present perfect tense suggests you still own them?)

Sienna exclusively adds an eq curve - nothing else behind it. No reverb, no phasing no distortion.

All of those room simulators - if they really want to simulate a certain room - are gimmicks.

[Present Perfect] + [for/since] = present time, retrospective
    [Present Perfect] + [already/yet] = indefinite past

Totally true, it's a gimmick that works! Once you get your head around it, it delivers the goods. I felt a better mix translation after a couple of days using VSX, and it's only getting better.

You are right, filters can be a concern with vocal/instrument stacks of same/similar phrases in time. I'm often apply bandpass in the production and pre-vocal mix process and it achieves what I am after. I'm not an expert on phase issues. If it sounds good, and I don't notice any cancellations or undesirable artifacts, I move on.

My friend, that's the misconception right there. You don't use VSX to learn to mix. If you know how to mix, it is a reliable tool when an otherwise properly tuned room isn't an option. It's not a learning tool. It's a professional tool, much better than Sienna or other software-only based solutions, at least in my experience. It's like playing the guitar. A proper guitar player can play amazingly on a Vossex or any low-quality guitar, or a photographer making a great photo on your cell phone. It is a great tool for the money.

Edit: Then you might ask, if you know how to mix, why bother buy the XSV gimmick? Well, the answer is it saves time. It helps me get to informed results faster then in my improperly treated room. My room is ok, but not ideal. Any tool that helps me save time is worth my money.
