Wouldn't surprise me if they used a proprietary plug-in to de-psychedelicize the first album..

i've done a few valuations for a few companies. Thats exactly how an uneducated owner valuates his company, they usually just guess some random number, thinking the company is worth way more than it's actual value.

That's not how it works, usually i have to say no one is ever gonna pay that price for their company, unless they grow exponentially. I think the emotional attachment this guys have also boosts their expectation.

Anyway someone made a forecast and told SONY that in the future, even with discounted inflation and the cost of capital, pink floyd music has the potential to generate more than 400 million in profit (not to be confused with revenue).

Anybody who watches Pawn Stars knows the value of the thing is what somebody pays for it, not what you think it should be.

This is happening all over the Music industry both in Europe and the West.

Many artists who have stips with their music library know their time is up as they can not compete with the Swift's of the world parading and dancing around for an hour without even a drop in mic level vocals.

Big name artists are selling their library in order to pull out of the Music Industry all together, U2 and others will probably be next up on the auction block. The Music industry is long gone, it's basically ready mix auto tune vocals and a dance show to sell that for live performances.

Look around for most big name concerts these days you simply can not explain someone dancing around for an hour and that not having a single effect on their singing that is just utter ridiculous.

Personally the big name bands from the 1970's and 80's are cashing out, it's that simple and I don't blame them as once again how are they going to compete with a lights and dance show while thousands of zombies take pictures and live stream through their phones!!!

99% of the people going into modern concerts are not there to see the music performance but more of the dance and light show, they are not there to pick up on the guitar licks, the equipment, what drums they are using, the electronic gear etc. Most concerts these days look more like an Apple Iphone launch with the people "hailing "oh lord Iphone" chatting right next to each other.

This was inevitable and you can see Musical instrument companies dumping their products on the masses as fast as they can as this decade will be the last decade for any profits. Most of the music instrument companies are going bankrupt or already have gone, along with music gear shop retailers going bust.

The modern "Music Industry" is basically just Fad piece hits with some catchy corny 80's samples to fool the masses of youngsters on Iphones walking into walls that those are new sounds.

You even have complete 100% blatant ripping of 90's songs including the lyrics themselves being passed off as new songs aka "Dual Lipstick on a pig" and the Media is bought and paid for to protect these studios from these scandals.

If I was some older big name act I would also be selling off and cashing out of this pathetic Music Industry and leave the iphone crowds behind.

if they de-psychedilize the album, it basically becomes ABBA with a slower beat, but Ableton can time stretch that shit, Sony presents Syd Barrett's Pink Abba.

Might Sony's monies be better spent psychedelizing ABBA's entire catalog? I know I've always wanted a 17 minute version of Dancing Queen with a rather prolonged series of odd noises and guitar feedback in the bit from 12 minutes to about 15:30.

Hell, that's pretty much already started hasn't it with Roger Waters completely re-recording Dark Side of the Moon?

(not that it bore the same resemblance iirc, I just heard some snippets....)

I think they're more likely to de-Syd it and replace him with Gilmour so they can remove Syd's presence from existence and pretend he didn't exist, just like the band did.

well Syd did kind of drop out of things, difficult to be a band when your lead guitarist won't play at gigs. I'd say shine on you crazy diamond proves they never forgot him. Gilmour continued to help him in the studio, and made sure he got royalties from the early records, which were re-released at least twice via Relics and other collections.

I don't think the band ever forgot Syd, he lost his way due to too much LSD and a family history of mental illness and of course the pressures of a career in the limelight.

I never personally subscribed to the notion that Syd was particularly talented, let alone a genius, but he certainly was interesting and back in that time that counted for a lot. At any rate history shows my opinion to be an unpopular one and that's fine.

whilst his talents have not aged well in comparison to the rest of the band. at the time Syd was the only one writing songs, so without Syd there would be no Pink Floyd, especially once they got their contract with EMI, that would have been based on the music Syd wrote, that they all performed on the albums, until his early retirement.

    Spot-on.
Most non-musicians who hear me heckle other musicians for their wild fantasies of "deserved" grandeur, come at me with remarks like "Maybe you don't realize how talented they actually are," or "They tour constantly, so they can play any size crowd," and all of these arguments that have exactly nothing to do with the fact that any major label/company only sees numbers—that's what musicians, and their music are, numbers. You could easily argue that's always been the case since the beginning.
(Just to set the record straight, I don't just wander around being a king-hell prick to random musicians who I've never met, I only abuse my musician friends, cuz that's what real friends do.)

Has nothing to do with 'wokeness'. Wokeness is just not going out of one's way to be a dick. Waters says a lot of really toxic, stupid shit.
