I think most people can live quite happily without Kirk Hunter Studios

 

I try to stay away from sweeping generalizations but as far as I could tell all his stuff was basically shit. I'm sure it must have been something at some time

 

I'd have a grand farewell sale too if the only consistent revenue my company can generate is legacy product being bundled in the purchase of a decade old 70 GB library...

 

Ive never understood the "We're going out of business, so come buy our stuff" sales. Especially for software. Ok... You want me to give you money with zero chance of support or updates over the coming years??? yah, no. peace

 

farewell sales aren't for the consumer. they are for the company so they can struggle to generate one last hit of revenue after giving up.

 

They sell libraries, software,
all they need is to maintain a Website and a couple servers with some hard drives, if it's not in the cloud..

With such collection of products the business would maintain itself,
that's ofc, if the libraries themselves weren't a complete catastrophe, and they are..

 

I started trying some of their stuff a couple of times thanks to audioz.....but just deleted them after trying them out. Even for nothing it's not worth it.

 

Dunno about their sample libraries, but their graphics designer needs to go to pedo jail.

 

Well I shurely liked those Kurk Hunter libraries. But never used them.

 

I think it's mostly to pay the taxes and duties for the penultimate and final financial year and possibly severance payments for long-serving employees.

When it's 1) high-quality libs that 2) have been maintained for years and 3) the user likes to stay legit such a sale makes sense for both sides IMHO.


p. s.: The KIrk Hunter libs I won't even download them for free I must confess

 

CorelDraw 95 is a completely valid and professional product, mmkay?


(to be fair tho I ripped all fonts from various CorelDraw versions just to keep em,
there's a certain charm to them, not exactly like today's..)

Never used one of their libraries. Never convinced me.

 

Congrats to them for surviving for so long. I can’t say ever really used their libraries. But I respect all the work they did over the years.

 

Obviously sad for the people who lost their job there but in fact not surprising:

I don't remember ever seeing one of their libs standing out in front of the big threes (Spitfire, Orchestral Tools and VSL).
