They do work fine, but if you demo them and A/B the current versions and the older 32 bit only versions, you would take the current versions for every one of them. On Mac, anyway. It's a very comparable difference between the Brainworx plugins from 2015, and the current versions. Just not having to run them in a wrapper even adds a very big improvement in stability.

They have great sales prices lately. You just have to wait for a sale to get a really good deal. For a long time, they never had big discounts like they do now,. The best way to get a good deal before was to buy many of them at once and get 40% off. You can get some from Plugin Boutique today for "up to 81% off", and I only noticed that randomly because I needed to download a manual from PB. The Black Friday prices should be even better.

After the number of requests for them over many years, you might want to call it all an exercise in futility.

Stability wise? That has never been an issue for me as I cannot remember a solitary crash caused by them. Not to mention the amount of resources appears no more than the stock Ableton plug-ins. Something you said though, when you A/B the two versions together, the difference in sound quality.. That has certainly peaked my interest.

I mean the plugin overall performance, not a/b sound comparison. I was going to say "shootout" instead of a/b but I'm not going to do either one of them anyway, so it seemed irrelevant. They can be easily demo'd, but they are iLok. If that presents a problem to someone, that someone isn't me.

 

Well, the good news is Sonnox plugins usually go on sale with a hefty discount at times like Black Friday. Last year they did a ~70% off discount for some of the popular plugins like Inflator and Reverb. On their own website and also third party vendors such as Plugin Boutique.

 

This. i got Envolution(arguably the best sounding transient shaper on the market IMO) and the Dynamic EQ a few months ago for just under 70 quid from Plugin Boutique

 

they are probably good but i dont need these. maybe back then we needed them where theere was less plugins to choose from

I don't recall any NFOs from R2R or other teams talking about Sonnox protection, or any details at all. Can you point me to where R2R does this? The last time a team talked about Sonnox was in 2009, AiR

 

there are many unfounded conspiracy theories that suggest that groups refuse to crack software from certain companies because they were either paid or intimidated into not doing so

there have been historical examples of people from cracking groups being given jobs by companies to protect software, but that's a different thing entirely
