uBlock Origin is still the best ad blocker out there. With Google pushing Manifest V3, YouTube has reportedly slowed down and started stuttering for a lot of people. uBlock Origin Lite is meant to last through the major API changes, but we don't know if it will be as effective.

yes i agree, but the last thing i experienced its that youtube takes around 3 seconds to start loading the page, not an issue cause i dont see any ad of any type.

Let's not do the standard "boohoo youtube is shit, do something else with your life" once again, please?

I'm going to drop the compulsory advice to just install yt-dlp, https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp (get a GUI version if you're so inclined), setup SponsorBlock for it and download and watch at your leisure where ever you want, when you want.

Yes yes, we all know YT has gotten absolutely shittier but there is still a wealth of information there so it's not all waste. And yeah I had a nice walk out there in the autumn weather, watching the leaves fall off the trees listening to an acid techno set. Good fun.

As I have remarked in a post on another thread, there was a policy implemented on YT to lock out those on VPN's from accessing anything at all YT wise for the last couple of months. What this policy did in reality was force anyone on a VPN or "googly" unsuitable IP range to "log in to prove you were not a bot". Of course if one was adamant enough to want to view the content one could just DL it thru one of the many YT downloaders, but still a slap in the face to anyone simply trying to view a piece of content without succumbing to giving up PII for a shitty google account. This policy has since been lifted within the last week or two, but if google continued with it, YT for me would simply be a dead zone that could RIP for all I care. I do not consider YT to be a "must have" service so I can take it or leave it, and give a hearty FUCK YOU to google for being such corporate dicks.

As far as the uOrigin thing goes I'm fairly certain that google has been pissed off that uOrigin works as well as it does at thwarting all the garbage ad content that google/YT and every other money grubbing internet ad agency churn out on a minute by minute basis. They have been looking for a way to put the newer gen ad blockers out to pasture and they think they have found it with the "manifest v3" bullshit. I am willing to bet that the coders of uOrigin and others like it are already at work getting around the pro-ad measures of the corporate fuckwits as we speak.
