Fix: Kontakt 8 Missing Libraries for Mac & Windows

    Many users have experienced missing libraries (with ninct) in K8 that still show up in K7, K6, etc.

    Here's the fix:
    1. Go to:
      Windows: "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Native Instruments\installed_products"
      Mac: "Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Native Instruments/installed_products"
    2. Zip the folder for backup. Then delete the original contents of folder.
    3. Relaunch Kontakt 8. Kontakt will instantly replace deleted files with updated versions and you will now see the libraries updating on the instrument interface.
    - If you moved library files prior to this, you should use the add library tool to update locations.

    Thank you. I tried this from another user, it works. I didn't need to back anything up, I just deleted the folder of 3 libraries that was missing, re added and they showed up.

    Glad it could help. I fought with computer for hours before find this. The backup is not mandatory, just my paranoid habit.

    unfortunately, it did nothing showing up those already installed libraries.....no clue about the fix for that. All Libs showing perfectly over K7. Deleted the json , but all the same

    same for me. Classic view working but not the new. posted a more details in the kontakt forum /kontakt8-library-not-found.77250/ no idea how to fix it, but not a big deal as the classic view works....

    Yea that's a different problem from this fix. It may also help to delete database (.db3) and library cache files in Kontakt 8 folders listed below:
    Windows: "C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Kontakt 8"
    Mac "/Users/YOU/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Kontakt 8"


    Ultimataly, I found the best troubleshooting method was to uninstall delete every trace of each Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol version, which fixed my problem on one machine before reinstalling them. On another machine, I just went slow and picked at specific parts until I found the files that did the trick.

    Many thanks for the response, I've deleted the files that you suggested, but theres still some not showing up in the new view. I'll tinker and pick at this when I have more time and if that doesnt work... go full nuclear option (full uninstall using Revo. But that's for another day. Thanks again for the help and the point in the right direction :like:

    Somewhat perhaps stupid question, but I have HCiSO Kontakt 7 (latest) installed, and I don't even HAVE a "Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Native Instruments/installed_products" folder... I have the Users/Shared/Native Instruments folder, but NOT the "installed_products" folder...

    Everything is working great however with KLU2. Is this something I should be concerned about NOT having? And when I make the move to K8, should I create the folder prior to install?

    Nothing to be concerned about if everything is working. I'm not sure yet if the folder is specific to K8 because I didn't start troubleshooting until after installation. The files were auto-replaced by K8, so its a reasonable assumption, probably a new way it handles what you have while advertising what you don't have at the bottom of the interface.

    If its not broken, don't fix it.

    waiting a better file management
    you can make a "delete this folder" tool.

    because the NI idea was to load faster from json files once generated by K8.

    but this state create 2 problems
    if you delete a regedit entry, the matching json still here will show the deleted library in the menu, it need to delete both to have no trace.

    the second trouble is about moving the library, re add modify regedit, but the json is not updated with the new location. you have to delete the old before K8 generate a working one.

    so kontakt 8 don't manage the json files correctlly
    maybe it load faster but NI made a big joke with json files not managed as it should. let's wait another update, or more...

    this joke for only 299€

    Hi all - I just experienced the same thing on my MacBook pro. The solution is to close `Kontakt 8 - go to Native access and reinstall that specific Instrument - then open Kontakt 8 and it will scan and locate the correct file and work

    Now, does anyone know how to get the audio previews and correct artwork to occur in KK o K8???

    eg - NI Action Strings 2.
