Well, i dunno. Perhaps it's just that i 'm an old fart? Or that sometimes i am overly sensitive on minor details when i shouldn't?
I can't stand the guy for more than 5 mins hehehe. Honestly, the only parts of his videos that i have really liked is when he plays some tracks on his comp, tracks he produced or recorded or whatever, which sometimes are very fucking cool. Good mixture of knowledge and taste in mixing/engineering, especially for his age. But i was never able to get hooked on his vids. And now this...
I stand with @clone on this for sure. He has changed his policy indeed, something i don't approve as from a reviewer's pov is unacceptable, but i find understandable as everyone has to make a buck any way they can i suppose.
With all that said, now that i think about it, i could use a freakin sponsor meself even if it's pornhub itself
    Cheers mates
    EDIT:
Yeah, i can picture him switching from a U87 to the 55 dlr TEMU condenser hehehe.

Guys, its perfectly fine to criticize and state your opinions, but easy on the nasty insults, xenophobia and conspiracy theories, theres no need for that here and its against forum rules. Try to keep it constructive.

Funny enough, somebody gave me a Temu U87 last year. The mic is actually good. They got it for free, as it was accidentally shipped to them, but it would have cost like 40$ or something. i used to own two u87's, so im very familiar with them, and while the temu one is not a 87, the design is very similar ( i opened it up, and have opened up many u87's over the years). more importantly the sound is actually pretty close. Its not the same, but its not super far off. Id say for 1/20th the price of an actual u87, its not a bad deal. I have used it on actual records that have been released. I actually choose it over a Shure sm7 and a Wunder U47, which is a $5,000 dollar mic, a couple of times.

On the subject of White Sea, i dont know why he gets so much hate. He is sometimes annoying, not reading the manual and then yelling at the devs about auto gain or something, but he does offer some good insight from time to time. Advertising for temu is whack, because they are a trash company, but i guess you gotta do what you gotta do to get your bag. hopefully they paid him a fat check, and it wasnt just for a few hundred bucks or something.

He closed the comments. Clearly, the video is a big ad; it doesn't take a genius to notice that. He should have put more substance into his sponsorship acknowledgment tho. This would have prevented a lot of backlash.

I can't watch that guy. Everytime I have tried to watch him for a plugin overlook, he has done a good job of overlooking everything. Immediately starts ranting and forming a conclusion before he even spends a second to double check cause he's so jacked up on caffeine and stressed out.

I recall watching a shootout on some pluggies too where one was oversampled to ultra and the other I think was an AA on 1x OS lol. I don't know how he has an audience or why companies send him plugins to review..

Anyway IMO once you have a certain reach you have a responsibility when it comes to promotion. If this was unpromoted "trying out products from temu" sure, fun vid. This is a massive low though, and I don't think the blow back from leveraging his audience offsets the short viral run it will have, but maybe he took a fat cheque and doesn't give a fuck anymore.

is anyone actually going to be confused and think he thinks this shit is awesome?
I have a hard time believing that he's actually misleading anyone who is older than 13, we all know how sponsorship works

    That maybe very true

im going try Temu Next i already use Aliexpress :like:
the same product delivered via amazon prime in my country can be $30 dollars more depending on the sellers

In closing if this youtuber WHO EVER HE IS BTW is sponsored by Temu he has a contract to forefill its supporting marketing products.
And if you dont like that then stop watching the channel.. it is not rocket science go flapp on about something else that rubs you up the wrong way ..period.
stop being lured into posts exactly like this, that are only made because some individual has to much time on there hands and is bored as shit with life and has a overzealous gripe with what someone else is doing in life. Or the individual has more a vested interest paid or non paid in creating an agenda for the sole purpose of creating chaos to destroy someones reputation

Folks, maybe something is wrong here, maybe he edited the video after the blowback, but in the video I saw he makes it very clear that the stuff he bought from Temu is lousy. He literally says it might be good for a 10-year-old to practice with. And he's pretty much laughing through the whole thing, acknowledging that no serious music-maker should use this stuff. Again, if the video wasn't edited before I watched it, it seems to clearly be a cautionary tale about being suckered into buying cheap gear.

This guy has been a seller and a promoter for a long time. You can not honestly trust people like this guy who daily push products, he is basically a salesman using his channel to sell shit and make money.

The same happens in all domains.

    I have a photography example.
In the last 10 years, Sony cameras were a CASH FLOW tsunami.

Guys coming from Canon, Nikon, whatever ... started to PUSH Sony cameras like pancakes.
Affiliate links, "ambassadors" ... everything you can imagine.

Sony still the WORST camera maker (search "sony shutter stuck" ... or "sony slanted sensor" ...).
But still use the best marketing strategy : more money into "affiliate links", "ambassadors" and such).

Temu, on his side, is an INTERNET CANCER. Even worse than Aliexpress.
Seen all those Temu links pushed FIRST by Google ?

    Back to OP :

WST ALWAYS been a clickbait ("snake oil" ridiculous sentence all over the place).
But now, he gets money back from guys clicking on his links.
It always ends like this ... ppl pretending to be "independant" or "neutral" getting sponsored.

We should stick a " Temu pitfall" on his "snake oil" videos

Well, I didn't think the character of the video was bad. You can see that it is a paid promotion, but at the same time anyone who pays a minimum of attention can understand the tone in which the products are described.

For what he has promoted himself as being so far, this is just poor choice in action (imho).

Nope. I just watched again. Between 20:06-24:15 he says things like this equipment might be good for a "beginner" and even calls them "toys." He says that for this price, he's pleasantly surprised that any sound comes out at all, and emphasizes that pros don't use this cheap stuff. I don't understand the harsh response at all. He made some money from the sponsorship, which he probably needs, and gave an honest assessment that if you don't have the budget, this stuff is better than nothing.

It's probably difficult for some people to see it this way. Him giving a discount code WSS100 for a 100 euro discount to buy things from Temu with could be taken otherwise. Obviously, it was.

Nobody on this forum is going to buy Temu gear on his say-so, and no-one is being DaRude about it because they fell for some video and actually bought the stuff. The topic of the thread is the backlash he got for the video, and why people might see it how they have.

Wow, I'm gonna shop like a billionaire!

I vote with my wallet and I choose not to watch his channel ever again, will unsubscribe and be better for it. In my opinion it is cringe to rationalize doing anything just to make money. Perhaps If he instead of waiting twenty minutes or so to bury the fact that the low quality gear is is aimed at beginners I might give him a pass. This is akin to "burying the lead" in journalism and to me is distasteful at a minimum. He decided to drive way out of his lane and I hope that the bag from Temu is worth losing his reputation from what I can only assume is a good chunk of his audience. His not allowing comments is another choice he made in favor of pure financial interest.

And now the cited video has been relegated as private...thought so.
