Has anybody tried the unrestricted demo?

How is this AI thing any better than current drum sequencers? I don't see it anymore practical than EZDrummer 3, for instance. One other thing is that they don't show how the ride cymbal sounds. IMHO that's the most difficult drum part to emulate realistically.

I'm guessing it's more about "intelligent" pattern generation than the sounds... since I program everything completely by hand it's not anything I have any interest in but I can see how it could be really useful for some people.

Yes, you can use it as a pass-through plugin with your favorite drum VST. Regarding the AI, it's ok for expanding a simple beat and making small incremental changes to existing patterns to avoid repetition. It will be interesting to see where they take it, as the software is still in the early development stage. I'm not sure if I would buy it in it's current state, but it's fun to play around with and a quick way make drum parts a little less boring.

I thought developments in AI technology would be of interest to computer based musicians, but surprisingly it's not.

Are we all still stuck in our old ways, or do we think AI is a load of nonsense?

I would have picked this up for the novelty of it, but I feel the price point is way off for what it does. Feels like it should be a $39 or $49 plugin via PluginBoutique. I bet they'd sell a lot more copies if that were the case.

AI attempts to do what I already do. I don't need AI to do what I already do.

Well I'm sick of editing 4 mins of variations into every drum track :)

Don't want to watch videos, website is pretty useless too. By the looks of it - Playbeat by Audiomodern, but more barebones, with the word "AI" tacked on and in ugly :dunno:

This plugin uses assistive AI, not precomposed patterns or complete randomness. How about Playbeat?

I agree with you about the price and to my eyes the software is still in the beta development phase, but it will be interesting to see how it progresses. They are going to add other instruments too, and then have them all interacting with each other.

I dig that... I generally am doing rock style drums, and I play them through the song in real time and then just clean it up. I pretend I'm a real drummer just using an alternate input device.

Slightly different use case here, I know real drummers, so I'm just looking for an easy way to produce some demo beats that aren't too monotonous, and my interest in AI technology is down to being a computer science grad :)

Not to go too far off topic but I have an electronics degree and I don't even remember how Ohm's Law goes, which is the electrician or electronics version of saying I'm an English major and I don't remember the alphabet.

"Resistance, power and voltage, something something."

AI wasn't much good when I was doing it, so it is interesting to see how it's developing.

Claims to be using "algorithmic procedures" when generating pattern variations.
