When I add a library to Kontakt, either with Bob's Add Library or R2R's Kontakt Manager, the library is added with the developer's name first, for example "8Dio Majestica Professional". There are a few exceptions, but 99% follow this pattern. However, when I watch Kontakt videos on youtube, etc. what I see is that only the library's name appears, not the developer's name.
This happens with the new browser. In the classic rack view, libraries appear with their name, not the developer's name first.
I find this very strange, because everywhere (NativeAccess.xml, NICNT <name> tag and in Kontakt DB), the name that appears is only the library name, without the developer.
When I scan all the text files on my computer, including the databases used by Kontakt, I never see "8Dio Majestica Professional", but always "Majestica Professional". I don't know where Kontakt gets that information from.
In NI Resources\image the folders and files for each library only the library name appears, without the developer name in front of it. Therefore, with each library I install I have to modify them by adding the developer name so that the thumbnails are visible. Obviously something strange is going on, but I can't figure out how it appears this way. I've even tried a new Windows installation, but it always happens the same. Can anyone give me an answer?

Ok, while you might get a better answer elsewhere, the shortname database seems to hold a lot of that information. Because it's a SQL database, you'll have to open in Notepad+ to see what I mean.
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources\_DatabaseResources\shortname\shortname.db

Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't seem right. It's a database of abbreviated library names but always based on the normal name, which is without the company or developer.
It's really very strange, am I the only Kontakt user that this happens to? Is it something that only happens to those who add libraries not in the official way through Native Access?

When i add with Bloggs´s KLU for Mac to create a nicnt with the wallpaper and so on, the name of the library that is going to apperar in kontakt sidebar is the name of the folder that contains the library archives (sample, instruments etc...). I can change the name previously to the folder or inside the KLU app, the nicnt tha´t is gonna be created will contain that name and is the name that is visible in the Kontakt.

It is possible to change the name then, just before add it, and i can write wharever i want in the name box of KLU app, even sometimes i put it a funny name like stupid strings disection...anyway. If i download the library and the creator has named as 8Dio_strings_bla_2.o_bla bla.osx for kontakt, the library name if i don´t change the name, appear like that folder, with its [_/*] signs or whatever.

Otherwise once i tried to change one to experimente, without making a new, and it is possible editing the nicnt inside the library, but the .xml at N.I. Service center, the prefs archive and the .joson in shared NI installed_instruments if this folder exists, because in M2 and Sonoma i think that the structure of that shared part has changed.

And yes, sometimes didn´t like the name or the _ signs i i create a new nicnt with another name, because the nicnt is what is going to give the name to thar library. For example that double space between karanyi and continuo, just for curious. Salute

I already tried renaming the library folder, and it didn't work, maybe because it found something it didn't expect somewhere. I think I'm getting closer to understanding how Kontakt names libraries, and I think there are a lot of things involved. The obvious thing would be that it would get the name from the NICNT <name> tag (which is the same one that appears in NativeAccess.xml), but with NI things are not usually obvious.
To make it clear, I'm posting a screenshot. I always put the company name in the library folder title, but as you can see in the image, there are three exceptions to that rule, Albion One, Anthology Strings and Berlin Percussion. Even funnier is that although you can't see in the image, Berlin Strings, Brass and Woodwinds appear with "Orchestral Tools" in front of them. Definitely, with NI nothing is simple and logical.

Yes, i´m talking about non Player libraries, to clarify: those libraries non-nicnt, and i like to add a wallpaper and so on, so i had experieced with those nicnt, .xml etc for a long time.... but for official list from Native, the ones with its own nicnt assigned and wallpaper embebed, i´ve never touch them, so change the name or imagine what is happening to you, now that i understand, is really rare, not funny but ey!! wtf....you know. It is a nonsense because is just like a contradiction in intself, like if a task over other is non before or after, is like it works "in between".

Yes, with N.I. no thing is obvious, these days i have a little incident with a Player library in the new K8 and i had to spend and hour to figure out what the hell it was happening, and as you said it was how now the shared list of installed :instruments let old .json archives, overwrites some og them...and yes, with these guys at Native is always an uncertainty thing; let me try some thing and if i find a way i´ll tell you. I´m on Mac but NI things are much or less the same.....well....IDK with N.I. xd

    Salute

The only way to have a neat and tidy library is with the portable version of Danilov, as it uses its own simple and logical library organization system. If you use the normal installable version you are left in the hands of NI and its obfuscated way of doing things. It doesn't matter if the library folder includes the company name or not, in the new Kontakt browser it will always show "Berlin Percussion" on one side and "Orchestal Tools Berlin Strings" on the other, and no matter what you do, you won't be able to change it. I think the key is in the nicnt file, they are binary files that execute actions, and each of them contains references to all NI products. Crazy.
