Judging by earlier releases, R2R at least releases the manual and some other things separated.
I don't know if it'll apply to these new features.
Obviously if stem separation uses online AI then can't be used.

    R2R dropped the bomb already,
and AI stem separation can be done for free using UVR (various algorithms to choose from within settings)

So if I buy Studio One 6 for 150$ now, I'll get Studio One 7 for free. But later, will I have to pay 200$ for Studio One 7?

Edit: Ok, the OP links are an upgrade, not a full version.

I would still pay the 200$. It's worth paying for the best DAW I use every day

They didn't fix the file search bug. we cant still search for stuff with more than tree keywords. But the new event design looks amazing

Can someone list the new features? I already uninstalled the r2r version cause I was afraid of using it for a long period. It's unreleased software so you never know

    Nah!!!
They'll do the stem separation offline. It's pretty easy on a regular computer, but it'll cost Presonus more to do it on their server.

Maybe it's time to switch to Cubase? For the time being it seems to be the better DAW though PreSonus and Steinberg always copy each others features anyway

    Copied Release Post:

    So thankful to R2R! [IMG]

Very disappointed with Presonus who have completely butchered the Audio Track appearance in this "update".

The audio track waveforms are now completely washed out with horrible highlighting.

Before V.7, the audio waveforms were clear in contrast from their containers, but now every audio track looks like a dull watercolour block with random container highlights that cannot be removed!
Meaning, there is no real contrast between an audio waveform and its container! [IMG]

V.7 now has the worst audio view of ANY DAW.

I'm sure that many professionals and long-time users are guaranteed to complain about this - until they create an option to return to the previous audio colour-scheme.

Rounding the edges of audio containers Presonus...why?
This actually makes audio editing much more difficult as with circular container edges - you can no longer see the grid-lines, cross-overs, or details of waveforms clearly any more.

I really hope these horrible design choices are not a sign of things to come [IMG]

Studio One was known for having one of the best User Interfaces of all DAWs, but they have progressively made it worse with every major update.

There doesn't appear to be any improvements in efficiency/CPU usage (Win 10).

No, you're not. There's no such thing as SUPER PROFESSIONAL. So it's everything that I've said. And I won't STFU. Actually YOU ARE the one doing the claims, so put up or shut up. And the fact that you're still fighting over the point, that any DAW in 2024 can help anyone achieve professional results, suggests that you're even surely pretty bad at producing anything, and you're the kind of blaming your tools for your lack of talent and expertise. I rest my case.

I loved the event rounded edges. It looks modern like logic I think

The arranger grid is a ruler with straight metric lines.
If the audio event containers have curved lines, then they no longer line up with the audio grid - (curved lines cannot be parallel to straight lines).
This makes it confusing to tell where one audio event really ends, and where another truly begins.

Random changes like this after 15 years are going to affect the workflow of many users (especially those with 'less than perfect' eye-sight).

Why would anybody want Studio One 7 to look like Logic?

Uow..as a legit user that always spent money on updates..this is a bit unfair..anyway..
We use in our studio s1 v6 and cubase 13 pro and renoise..we still are in reason v12 and we use the rack in our daws, we make electronic and production, we have a lot of hardware synths drum machines and externals sequencers, we always loved cubase because the midi and s1 for the light cpu friendly usage, the v4 was the best cpu friendly daw, unfortunately in the next v5 and v6 (thnx to Fender?) some was broken with cpu friendly..i always hated Avid commercial strategy and now Fender is doing less or more the same. I will evaluate to switch from cubase to nuendo and invest these year money to have more business opportunities with post production, at this point maybe is better to think even to back with pro tools, at least if i have to pay a year subscription…we have already the hardware ready…apogee pt expansions are installed already here…as ex pt user..bye bye Fender.

Every time I try Cubase after S1, it drives me crazy. Cubase has a very slow workflow compared to S1. I tried every Cubase update for 3 of their last versions and every time I'm returning back to S1. No DAW is perfect, you just pick the one that you can bear.

You'll get over this shortly either way. I use Logic every day and had to check to see if they are even rounded. It's such a trivial detail. If you want to see something with a terrible change for the worse, check out the new KClip3 interface change.

Yes and no here, sincerely i loved S1 because made me new fresh joy to mix and compose, maybe i was tired from cubase, once installed on mac (version 4) i was surprised by the cpu friendly and by the possibility to have AU and VST at same time in a daw, less or more the update road was like copy and improve from cubase and vice versa, now i cannot afford this since the way of survive for little reality here is really hard, so i will keep what it can do anyway the game. I hope the Fender AD will change mind about this…lets see how sales will going on…for a moment as AD of my little business i will say NO thnx! Going to sell my license ASAP!

Are you refering to the new 1-year update policy? As far as I know you have to pay for every major update with Cubase, while PreSonus lets you to update from any version to the latest one for 150$.
And when it comes to workflow, I still prefer S1. And all DAWs at this point just c&p-ing each other(late stage capitalism reached DAW market lol). So for me it's all about workflow and maybe looks(after all we are working within this software for hours almost every day).
I wanted to like Cubase, especially when S1 didn't have proper video track and all that media production related features, but simply couldn't make it bearable enough. But, I think if someone worked in Cubase for a decade, it should be easier and value of swithing to S1 maybe not that obvious. So, it's understandable.
