I'm talking about Heavyocity Punish v1.0.2
which is on sister site since 17.09.24...
I visited the developer site and found this:
"PUNISH is uniquely watermarked for each individual customer
All files in PUNISH are watermarked using a propriety technology
Customers may be required to provide their full Identification for authorization purposes"

So, the questions are:
Did R2R remove WM from the plugin?
Are there the same things with plugins by others?

PS. I found it (WM) in plugin for the first time...and before only some KONTAKT libraries were watermarked

 

Render out a test file. Send somebody that test file. Have the person render out the test file using the same DAW and plugin settings you used, but with a legit (trial?) copy of the plugin instead of the R2R release. If the resulting files are identical (same checksum, not null test), then there's no watermarking.

 

I think it means that every installer is watermarked by customer id, so they can find who provide the source.

 

Yeah, that's it. I think Hornet plugins do the same thing, even though they are DRM-free (a pretty clever trick imo).

People talk about watermarking for decades now. There is an old thread here on this very forum.
Imo it's all just a scare tactics to make you not use cracked plugins because no way they can reverse engineer that from a finished track and sue you for it.
Maybe they know you're the culprit but there has been no verdict spoken because of a watermark to my knowledge, that says it all.

I can download installers from two different accounts. and they will also be the same.

the developer writes the same words about his libraries, but this is not true. during their cooperation with Continuata, some of their libraries had watermarks (they still have watermarks), but everything they have done in the last 4 years has no watermarks.

Well it’s possible.
when generating a download link, a downloader ID is embedded in the file by simple script. It takes a few seconds.

Hornet as example. Watermark can be read by opening the vst in an text editor that supports Macintosh ANSI encoding and comparing it differentially with a plug-in downloaded from another source/account.
