I am looking for a drum machine VST that has the following if it exists, I currently have Bitwig Drum Machine, D16 Group Nephaton 2

    1: Load my own samples
2: 16 or more pads to load the samples with multiple banks if possible
3: Add effects to the individual pads, reverb, delay, volume, pan etc
4: Built in sequencer with 16/32/64 steps and multiple program banks (not an absolute must)
5: The ability to save the samples at the time you save your kit, as in it saves the loaded samples as part of the saved kit instead of just linking to the files and folders the samples were loaded from. (this is the cherry for me)

Functionality comes before cost so I am not bothered if its costs a few hundred dollars if it has the above.

Thank you very much in advance.

I have watched both videos now and wow this thing looks perfect.

Only thing to test it how it saves a preset when using external samples. It shows you can use your own samples but doesnt mention what happens when you save a drum kit. I hope they have a demo to test this out, really does look awesome with so many good features I never even knew I could need.

Really appreciate you replying with this.

Checkout Apisonic Speedrum V2. Very intuitive and straightfoward to use but also very deep if you want it to be.

interesting. Is this thing capable of "browsing in place" samples?

I mean the DAW is playing the sequence and you browse the sample while the drum machine plays in real time what your are browsing

i really dont know why i should prefer geist over just ableton...
battery is just shiny gui and maybe hast better tree but only if you have not a well organized OS sample folder tree
    for me its
    1 triaz
    2 ableton/rmv
    3 speeddrum
and then all the rest ...i dont get the hype bout microtonic .

    honorable mention : egoist

XLN Audio - XO no one mention this beast? It has 8 slots though, but it comes with easy and highly flexible groove/swing function. Something that is overlooked by many or has to be done manually on track by track basis like in Geist2 or Triaz which is time consuming.

Algonaut - Atlas 2 is a XO for poor people))

ADSR Drum Machine similar to Apisonic Speedrum V2

TAL-Drum v2 yet another simple straight forward drum sampler with it's own features.

maybe because not all of them are satisfying what requested?
For example, ADSR or Algonaut can add separate reverbs, delay per single pad? Or can save samples "importing them in a choosen folder"?

also TAL drum can do that? would like to know as well thanks

To me it is VERY hard to advice groove/drum machine after testing half market.
I tested so much ... and most of the time just ended with separate tracks in my DAW

A lot of specific features, only present in plugins at first, were included in DAWs for years :
    -groove matching/extraction
    -auto slice loop
    -extract MIDI from loop
    ...

Until i use it ONLY in standalone, i found all those drum machines features "fighting" with the DAW i use.
Especially step sequencer ... inside a DAW sequencer

My favs (anyway) matching OP :
-Geist and Guru (very innovative in their time, good effects ... shine in standalone to me)
-apisonic speedrum : good price, GUI, features ... kind of Xfer Nerve on steroids AND cheaper
-AKAI MPC 2, Beats : standalone may be ?
-ADSR Drum Machine : may be, as alternative to Speedrum

I found a lot of others too complicated, wrong GUI slowing me ... or just adding NOTHING more than DAW multitrack.

XLN Audio - XO and Algonaut - Atlas 2 : good for sample sorting ... but average for drum making
Battery 4 : can do a LOT ... too much for me
TAL drum : wrong GUI to me
TRiaz : cant stand the GUI :D
... i could go on for a LONG post

It literally looks like Battery with a different skin. How does it compare?

Regarding OP: Maybe Kong Drum Designer is something for you so try Reason Racks.
Because you can always load up Redrum and get a step sequencer then

I usually have an audio file that I'd like to slice and feed into one pad as round robins/alternate layers. I've tested u-he and TAL's drum machines to no avail and also have experienced the nightmare of using Reaper's Dynamic Split coupled with Reasamplomatic5000.

Since you guys are connaisseurs, I'll take this opportunity to ask for a VST recommendation that could do this task with as little hassle as possible. Atlas picked my attention for other reasons, I can't tell if it would make my life easier in this respect...

Take a look at Geist 2 for this kind of features.
There is an auto slice included AND round robin function too.

"8 samples per pad. You can layer them, velocity split, round robin, round robin reset and random

Select the pad you want (in the engine you want) and go to the pad/layer page. On the pad tab you will see the 'layer play mode' option."

Melda MDrummer can do all that, although the GUI and functionality is anything but easy and straightforward. Welcome to try this if you are looking for a headache.

Only case I'm aware where the "poor peoples" option is more well featured.

Lol I will take a look at it but I'm pretty satisfied with Groove Agent, it can do everything mentioned in this thread and can play samples in place, which is one of the most important things for me

I also enjoy Atlas when I have to build up something easier, anyhow I usually like Melda stuff, will take a look
