i feel like most of toontrack's products kinda belittle the things i am good at, like drum programming & mixing.
but, the sounds are really great. ezdrummer has always sat well in any of my mixes & i kind of prefer it on a lot of songs to the Abbey Road kits and such, and it isn't as bloated as Superior.

Ez drummer is well done, Toontracks hire the best ppl to produce EZX kits. And frankly, there are a lot of ppl loading EZX in Superior
Some ppl complained about EZX being 16bits only, but it is not a problem. Because sound is already processed, the opposite of SD 24bits where samples are more "raw" and processing apllied in real time. You don't need 24bits dynamic range with "mix ready" EZX.

My point of view now is more and more : i'm not Andy Sneap
When i load Metal Machine EZX, i know i will need minimum tweaking on EZ Drummer multiout tracks

About the Abbey Road kits, i think it is the same problem reported on Steven Slate Drums, Spectrasonic Trilian bass and much more products for different purposes : they sound very good alone, but when in a mix, you need to tweak to fit them.

And also...i'm a metal head.So i care less about NI bass and drums, because the most extreme they provide is regular "hard rock". Toontracks are first on metal. Even if i found Analogue Drums very nice on Kontakt.

This is exactly the same problem with VOX and their Tonelab (witch i love) : the best potential for amps sims is metal, but they didn't get that point and still provide more blues, jazz, rock than metal.Like NI, making/providing almost everything...apart metal. Steven Slate got this point earlier than them
And Line6 too. Fear Factory and Messhugah (to name a few) played on Line6 sims. And last FF album is POD HD straight into laptop...

The biggest market for virtual drums and amps sims is metal. That's all :dunno:
That's why you will have hard time to find good brush drums
Toontracks got it, Line6 too. And some others, like IK media. Their last metal amps kick.

To me and now, it is EZ drummer (rock/metal kits are awesome) and Shreddage Bass Picked Edition or Cherry Electric Bass (very versatile one) for metal and rock.

Is it compatible with expansion/midi packs from ezdrummer 1. (if so, do they need to be updated) ?
i guess so , since they listed the packs at the bottom of the product page.
