how many people might have known bach and then asked him "can you teach me how to compose like bach?"

that might be how the average idiot on the interwebs tackles a matter today - how do i become depeche mode in 3 days - but the students of bach for sure did not, because the mindset was different back then. :)

the students of bach were mostly advanced musicians already, and then he taught them how to understand music theory, how to compose cantatas, how to play organ or how to sing.

bach was widely known for beeing a great teacher and formed and mentorized many church musicians which are still known today.

donĀ“t forget that teaching stuff to others is at the same time always a good method to learn about things yourself, or in other words, people who think they have some special knowledge and experience - and do not teach it to others - only put obstacles in their own way.

In a good amount of cases, when a good "rock band" starts to add orchestral parts to a song; it is an indicator they have "jumped the shark" and will either break up soon or never make anything noteworthy again. Especially stringed instruments.

That's not what was happening in this case, he tried to write a cantata. I like Paul, but... it was definitely mediocre.
All that said, you're not wrong though. Ironically, The Beatles were extremely successful adding strings and orchestral parts to their music, but then they had George Martin to do it.

    1. A creator either creates or explains. Not both. If (and when) he explains, he doesn't create. And vice versa. You are a teacher or a creator.

    2. A creation speaks itself. It is just "right", no less, no more. Nothing to explain. Look, listen, touch, feel. It absolutely applies when we talk about artworks. Music primarily exists for us to listen to it. A creator who explains his creation isn't a good creator. He doesn't make his proper job.

    3. If we talk about human creators they usually don't know how they created something. I don't know how good I am as a creator. But I couldn't explain how I created cool things I was successful to create (things that I consider cool and happy). I created them, potentially I could teach it somebody. But I can't teach it. I don't know how and what. There is an opinion that it is not us who create. Muses, daimons, gods, angels... We are just instruments in their hands. How could I explain if it is not me? Inspiration...

Have you ever created something that you personally consider cool? Do you know and understand what you say about? Or is it just your subjective opinion not based on facts and your personal experience?

I could say about myself I did. And it isn't a product of good education and correct information. They help, enormously help, but they aren't the source.

How did music appear? Who did teach the first musicians? Where did they learned music composition? Or, may be, music, musicians and tutorals existed eternally?

Ahh, the ages old theological dilemma: could Goddess create a tutorial so bad that they couldn't compose a symphony out of it?

Anyone can write a symphony, it's really no big deal. It's just like building a wall brick by brick...there's a bit of heavy lifting, and before you know it your done! The secret is to use strong bricks.

Almost no one can write a simple piece let alone a symphony.:guru:
Interestingly, even writing a simple piece is not taught on YouTube.

I have nothing to do with these things. I am confident in what I said. I am sure of all the sentences I said in this thread. The knowledge of making big things (or even small things) is not spread on the Internet. Not that they don't have time. They have time, but they don't teach on purpose. No matter how hard you look for, no one will teach you these things. Now you want to believe my words or ignore this fact. Anyway, there is no point in continuing this thread because all the words that could be said in relation with this thread have been said and everyone has expressed their own point of view. But if anyone doubts my words, they can continue this thread but nothing diminishes the reality of my words.
Hoping to meet in another thread.:shalom:

When you live in make believe la-la land, haven't taken your meds and are completely unaware how full of shit you are :wtf:

Wait, I'm gonna predict your answer so you can be even lazier than you already are, you air thief: "LOOL THAT GUY CAN'T TEACH HE DIDN'T TALK ABOUT COMPOSING AT ALL THE FIRST MINUTE OR TWO", or alternatively "LOL THAT'S BEEN MADE IN NOTATION SOFTWARE SO IT'S NOT AUTHENTIC LETS FURTHER DERAIL THIS CONVERSATION SO I CAN FILL UP MY MEANINGLESS LIFE WITH THIS BULLSHIT"

Can you guys imagine Foster talking to anyone irl? How long do you guys think until they leave him alone wondering why he is such a loser?

My last comment in this thread:

Watch these videos for 100 years, the truth that I said will not change. Big and splendiferous things are not taught, never ever from the composer's own tongue or even those who falsely claim to know that composer.
These are and will be only from beginners for beginners.:shalom:

It's you who believe that nobody on the internet doesn't teach how to write symphonies. But your believings are wrong. And your words cost nothing. Simple check approves it. Why should we believe your words?
