The reverse thing is a fake, subliminal messages as such don't work. But after the big Satanic Panic of 80's bands started putting shit like that in their tunes just for shits and giggles.

I think Rob Halford said it best that if such messages worked, they'd put in ""Buy more of our records."

An aside, you decide just how unserious doom/stoner folks are, Electric Wizard is the shit:

So it's just buncha wasted folks blasting out fuzzes at 11. Pure noisy bliss.

While we're at it, there's one test one must pass:

Drop out of life with bong in hand
Follow the smoke toward the riff filled land

Yes, it's basically one riff for an hour, genius.

    Again, just stoned rambling: https://genius.com/Sleep-dopesmoker-lyrics

Sleep, same thing. Cool band, but they make it part of the esthetic to sound like crap, and it doesn't have to be! Dopesmoker is a classic though.

A proper cross between Zeppelin and Grand Funk in stoner rock fashion. Lyrics are bit edgy but evil, nah... Good track, i like it.

I get it why people don't like the, as you said, aesthetic. It's not for everybody, and it's not for me most of the time either. But I do get why it's like that: it's almost impossible to record the sound these folks have live. Stoner gigs are fun, but not exactly healthy for one's ears.

It's supposed to be listened very fucking loud at home as well.

True. And Sleep does sound like a band recorded with a mic in the garage; you can hear the instruments. It's not like these other bands that are making aggressively bad recordings, because, dope I guess lol
I like the sound on Bigelf's Closer To Doom. That's what I'm going for, kind of Sabbath with an (occasional) organist.

are these normal guitars with octave pedal tuned down ?

yeah ,i have not so much problem with lofi but in this case its a bit sad as listener cause they could push some more grid and other feedback tones out and not drown the drums on the other hand i imagine if i could/would play this guitar i imagine its fun to give a fck and drown on :hillbilly::mad:

    ...ok...

Lori S. is a musician born in Palatine, Illinois and currently based out of San Francisco, California. Initially starting her career with Midwest punk bands, she is best known as the guitarist and frontwoman of the stoner metal band Acid King. Inspired by Ricky Kasso and the book "Say You Love Satan", Acid King would form in 1993 and release four studio albums among other releases.

She was once married to Dale Crover of The Melvins, whom contributed to a handful of Acid King's early releases.

    ----
Richard Allan "Ricky" Kasso Jr. (March 29, 1967 – July 7, 1984), also known as The Acid King, was an American murderer who killed his 17-year-old friend Gary Lauwers in Northport, New York on June 19, 1984.[1] Two other teens, Jimmy Troiano and Albert Quiñones, were present at the murder, which took place in the Aztakea Woods of Northport while all four were under the influence of what they believed to be mescaline, but was most likely LSD.

The murder became sensational news in New York City and across the nation due to the alleged torture of Lauwers and supposed occult aspects of the murder. The murder took place during a period known as the "Satanic panic" when there was much public concern[2][3][4] over the effects of Satanic and occult content in heavy metal music and in role-playing games. Kasso was wearing an AC/DC T-shirt at the time of his arrest and was a fan of groups such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne.

    Wow, they're great!

Remember, someone being interested in a sensationalistic subject doesn't mean they endorse it any more than going to see a slasher flick means you endorse murder.

I grew up and went to school with all of the people in this tragic story. This book (which I read when it first came out) is a sloppy amalgam of half truths and pure lies which anyone who was in or on the fringes of this group of kids would attest to. It's a shame that there is a whole little industry of people who think nothing of perpetuating the lies while they make money off the murder of my friend Gary.
