Wow. 95% of the posters here have absolutely no idea about depression, it seems.

therapy helped me a lot, specifically cbt
I can't say my life is objectively any better but at least I suffer a lot less
finding someone who can help you can take some effort though. I got more out of my first session with the person who helped than I did in a year and a half from others

“Nietzsche was the one who did the job for me. At a certain moment in his life, the idea came to him of what he called 'the love of your fate.' Whatever your fate is, whatever the hell happens, you say, 'This is what I need.' It may look like a wreck, but go at it as though it were an opportunity, a challenge. If you bring love to that moment--not discouragement--you will find the strength is there. Any disaster you can survive is an improvement in your character, your stature, and your life. What a privilege! This is when the spontaneity of your own nature will have a chance to flow.

Then, when looking back at your life, you will see that the moments which seemed to be great failures followed by wreckage were the incidents that shaped the life you have now. You’ll see that this is really true. Nothing can happen to you that is not positive. Even though it looks and feels at the moment like a negative crisis, it is not. The crisis throws you back, and when you are required to exhibit strength, it comes.”

You might be depressed. If you feel that way about a lot of other things you used to enjoy. But I know what you mean. I feel like I've heard it all before. I guess this is partly from being alive too long but I don't really know.

And those that do, dare not to try to diagnose it online (as no one should try to diagnose anything based on posts, even if they are a medical professional)

For OP, I feel you, but maybe you should try to talk to someone qualified, who knows. I wouldn't trust any advice, be it religious, medical, diet, exercise and so on from random internet strangers, such as myself and everyone else.

Honestly though i feel this right now and hate to say it, but i agree. Life just straight sucks sometimes man.

Have you ever heard of Zoloft? Perhaps consider trying to get a prescription for it. I've been on it for years and it has helped me SO much, with literally zero negatives/side effects (the only downside is that you can't really drink alcohol while you're on it or you get like 3x as drunk). I went off my meds recently and hence why i'm saying i feel this right now. Past few weeks or so has been a literal nightmare for me, living hell. But i'm getting back on the zoloft (aka sertraline, very low dose) and i'm hoping it helps bring me back to sanity. Lol

EDIT: It is important to mention 2 things.

    1) Zoloft is NOT something you should take cavalierly, just because it's small- must not be doing that much, right (this can apply to a LOT of things, btw))
No, it can have very serious/strong side-effects if you come OFF of it or go ON to it too quickly. Sh*t's gotta build up, or gradually build down, before you can feel normal at either end of the bridge.

    2) Zoloft (or really any sort of drug like that/in that category), is NOT something you should AIM to do in perpetuity. Similarly to a nicotine patch, no? For people who have been smoking for some years but want to stop? You don't just slap it on and say "aight bet, i'm gonna use this till i'm 70". Like NO, you want to use them for 3 months max (or however long the recommended time is) and then stop, right? For some people, these "patches" can do the trick. And for others, maybe it's alternate choices that are more optimal for them. Everybody's different

Wishing you all the best, friend. Break free from that prison :like: you can do it. It's not supposed to be easy, though.

Zoloft is evil. I mean, YMMV (clearly it works for some :dunno:) but it just made me even more of a zombie. Even at my most depressed or nihilistic I'm still capable of empathy and I wouldn't hurt anybody. On Zoloft I could have shot somebody dead as easy as swatting a fly. And it destroyed my sex drive and if that's not going to depress you more I don't really know what does.
Seriously. Be very careful with the pharmaceutical "antidepressants". THC works much better for me but only microdosing and I still need tolerance breaks every few weeks.

i can see that with all these comments many do care and regardless of what is said. you do have a community to come to here. some don’t even have that. be greatful for what you do have. God also knows what you need that don’t have. So don’t stress. All will be good. you have some cool people here to back you. Stay fresh and do you. Don’t worry about the common heard, the neasayers and soothsayers

I seem to recall that discussions about religion aren't allowed here. For good reason.

You only get one go at life. It's not a rehearsal, so if you don't like aspects of your life and you have the ability to change them, don't waste time moaning about them, fix them!
