Music used to fill 99.99% of my time. The remainder was pre 1980's sex. No need for sob stories or bullshit to fill out the word count, but I'm so close to "I don't give a shit anymore" that I'm not sure what else there even is to say. I can't remember when I wrote a song I cared about. I view these pages and marvel at what it must feel like to be so excited a plugins release. Wow. If only my life was that simple.

life can suck and most of the time it probably does, but we have to accept the pain.
    sometimes it goes away.

Music isn't the only exciting hobby, why not try train spotting, stamp collecting or knitting?

The same boiling water that makes the pasta soft makes the egg hard.
It's not about the circumstances but about what you are made of.

People for whom music was 99.99% of their life : Ian Curtis, Chester Bennington, Kurt cobain, Keith Flint, Jimmy Hendrix, Chris Cornell, Amy Whinehouse, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin...

Have a walk in the countryside, touch grass, breathe fresh air, watch the sunset.
Reconnect with your family, friends and lovers, meet strangers.
Take back the control of your body and your mind.
Do not cling to something that don't make you happy.

You are probably on the right path and about to open yourself to experience new things outside of the madness that is music creation.
I wish you good fortune on your journey.

Yeah. Self-pity. That helps. Seriously: Why do you think should other people care about your whining for no reason? (At least you gave no reason.) And what do you expect them to do? If you want help - ask for it. If you only want to whine - do it in another forum.

Take a break and get into a new hobby. I got into Flight Simulation, and it helped massively with my depression two years ago.

Perhaps you need some time to "recalibrate yourself".. Without knowing your situation, I will give you this advice.. And it works.. Trust me.. I tell myself this everyday... "Be grateful for even the smallest things in you life!" - "Try and filter out everthing that is "noise" in your life.." (Negative thoughts is noise, blaming yourself or others is noise, and so on..) - Try and practice mindfulness if you feel like it... - When that is said.. IF I totally misunderstood you, and this is "only" a composers "Black Hole" you have run into, then just take a break from making music, (don't think music for a week), and then go out and be inspired. Perhaps do something you have never done before? - So "Filter out all negativity, be grateful for even the smallest things, and then do something that will make you truly happy.." - "Happiness is Life". - All the best my friend.

I found myself in a similar rut the past few years, so I can sympathize. Recently, I ended up selling most of my things and taking an extended vacation/sabbatical to the Balkans. It is very inexpensive to live here, the weather is very warm, beautiful mountains and beaches... I don't plan on making it my home, but the whole experience has allowed me to gain some perspective on my life and really consider what I want to do with the rest of it. Sometimes a hard reset is the best way to fix a problem.

I once saw a quote from someone unknown which said, "all men should try to learn before they die, what they are running from, and to, and why."

Thanks for making me feel worse about myself. What makes you think you deserve an explanation for why I feel so helpless? Do you perceive yourself to be the arbiter of "is my whining just self pity or do I have a substantial reason for my depression?" I owe you no explanation, nor did I request anybody's input in my original post. I spoke. As I believe we are all free to do.

This is an earnest answer: running changed my life. If it's not for you, I'll understand. I never would have guessed it was for me. But since I started running, my mood is completely different, I look forward to everything, and I have so much drive and energy. I'll run my fourth marathon this year. I'm not fast (not necessarily slow either - 4hr marathons), but that's not the point. I was broken from too much chair-sitting, and now, my whole frame is realigned, frame of mind too. (and I'm not young... 50+).

I often have to force myself to do more than just "that one thing", even if I don't feel like it. I've made a habit out of playing old games for at least 30 minutes per day. No music other than the game's music, no podcast, no phone. Old games because no DLC/ads/loot boxes/predatory schemes. No podcast, phone so the mind can actually settle, rest and review what's happened on that day. Very different from the other 80% of my waking time and it helps balance the mind. Music being 99.99% of your time sounds unhealthy IMO, especially long term as the stretches where you're indifferent or even resentful to music will only become longer as you get older.

Have a look at Buddhism. I keep going back to its main principles, though I don't study it and I wouldn't call myself a Buddhist. Fundamentally it's more a philosophy than a religion. I would argue that it isn't a religion at all, no matter how much some people try to present it as one.
