Well if it has Win7 on it and it works just fine, stick with it for now, I am still using Win 7 also and have been for so many years with no issues, I use it for creating & playing music live, Graphics & photo work, playing and editing music and movies and just about anything I need to do. About 95% of the new programs that state Win 10 - 11 Work perfectly in my intel i5 PC with 16GB of ram and an SSD drive, it's really fast with no issues, If a program doesn't work it's no big deal, if I really want to use it I just get an older version, but mostly those were programs I just wanted to try, out of curiosity. You can upgrade if you want to Win 10 or 11 and get it for free, to activate it just enter the your win 7 serial it will work. As of 2 months ago when a friend decided to finally try out 10. If your computer works fine on 7 why fix it. You can download the windows 10 + 11 ISO's directly from microsoft if you really want them. hope this info is useful and of help.

Keys? laughable... Paying for keys. hilarious... Fire up your internet sleazer and lookup HWID activation. Then get rid of those keys and get a digital license for the cost of 0$.

You gave me the exact kind of information that originally led me back to this forum.
So pretend Im jus a normal dude that wants to make music on an older pc. How does someone fight the new "landscape"? OR... if I don't go on the internet after this... I suppose that would work to. I have other machines for net.
    Thoughts my friend?:mates:

THE OTHER thing I forgot... of course I want a Hackintosh. Originally, prior to the migration to mac, I was going to do the Hackintosh thing with my xps 8500. Now I'd really like to see that through, but I also wanted to use some of the more modern Windows systems at home (personal interest AND sorta work related).

Kaspersky has a free version, the paid version usually includes some stuff that is mostly optional. Like a password manager, some extra browser protection and data leak alerts. You can just go to their website and grab it without any detours.

Edit: just to be extra clear, the free and paid Kaspersky have the same security components. You're only missing out on some stuff they add on top to make it more valuable. The free version is a fully featured AV just like the paid stuff from back in the day. I haven't moved to the paid Kaspersky that I already own because I don't need the extra features, and it requires me to reinstall, so I'm not too eager to waste time with stuff I won't use.

    Cardamom thank you!

    yeah DPC Latency Checker.

I noticed that program on my old xps 8500. The "lifestyle" is starting to come back to my brain. :D :friends:

Finally going to do this today. Tryin to download installers so I don't have to go online for anything at first, and yeah.

The one drive... I swear I don't want a single second to go by with that stupid piece of S operating in the shadows... facepalm.
Def removing that and using for firewood. :D

Tune in next week and by then I may be done. :) o7
