Why is Ableton constantly update the 11 Version? Does anybody knows more about this?

there are still quite a few people using L11, and Ableton always wanted to finish on very stable final versions for a major release (L11)

    thats what im thinking.

ofc i dont really know why Ableton still releases L11 versions

I still think a L12 PDF manual is more important than any more updates for L11.

I am certain that one reason would be to satisfy customer base with systems that do not meet the requirements of Live 12. AVX2 on the x86_x64 Windows PC side as an example.

i dont think its x86_x64 thing on windows. since Live 12 is only dependent on windows version, which ableton still supports or not.

maybe its a mac thing? since Ableton still produces U2B and ARM releases for L11 (and ofc L12), now im sure if they planning to drop U2B support anytime soon.

Maybe because they have to continue fixing it for people. They wouldn't do it just for fun. People can usually buy the retail software version, up until the day they put out the new version (or even longer). So they probably "owe" those people bug fixes and/or updates for whatever time frame they say they will have.

As long as a currently produced Push exist that has 11 as minimum then that kind of defines it.

I don't know about these particular updates but they're probably patches and bugfixes to their frameworks that both 11 and 12 and use.

X86_x64 is just another way of denoting x64 (64 bit). We still have x86 (32 bit) code in 64 bit app/program & Windows.

With the two version of Ableton we have the legacy version still being supported while pushing out the newer version 12 with features only supported on newer hardware. Reminds me of the transition from VST 32 bit to 64 bit and the transition from VST2 to VST3 (as examples).

Live 11 is pure x64. x86 was last for L10. Ableton had to recode a lot of stuff for that to happen.

I am not saying that the software is 32 bit (x86). Just that x86 can refer to 32 bit or 64 bit. x86_x64 usually means 64 bit which is of course backwards compatible with 32 bit.

Don't know if you remember the Windows 2000 64 bit only era where any software that pointed to 32 bit code would not function correctly if at all.
