I used to do some corporate buying of all sorts of things from software to Helium Dewars, its a skill that takes practice.
but a couple rules of thumb for buying software.
    1. if a deal is too good to be true, it probably isn't real..

    2. you rarely need the latest version of any software, if you look around you can often find deals on older software for very cheap prices. You can usually purchase an older version and upgrade later to the latest version if it works for you, you like and it and you wait for the software house to make an offer for upgrades. Most do this a couple times a year.
if its an expensive package, verify it is upgradeable before purchasing by asking the software house, usually they have an online FAQ, that says what they'll upgrade, and how to transfer licenses etc.

3 learn to wait, several times a year most software houses offer sales or cheap upgrades, learn when this is, look at reddit or google "mysoftware package sale 2021" or whatever year and you'll see their history of sales and how much of a discount you can get by waiting.

    4. don't ever buy in cash unless you own a gun and can motivate the seller to give you a refund.. but no seriously if you are buying legit software/licenses it should be through paypal or gumtree or someone who can facilitate resolution of problems with goods or payments. don't buy software from a boot sale and then whine when it turns out to be a Donna Summer Cd with a fake label on it.

5, don't buy anything you can download and test for free. if you really like it buy it, if you don't like it don't buy it.
sometimes we get hasty and think this thing could really solve some problems I have, or this really makes some great sounds, but after a kicking it around we find its unstable and crashes alot or it really doesn't work like it supposed to and its more work getting it to work, than ever getting anything useful out of it.

I personally have wasted a lot of money on software that never worked properly or the developer abandoned it. but if you learn from the experience it wasn't a total waste, plus you now know what to watch out for..

Scammers are always a problem, always will be. The best thing we can do is discuss it and let each other know when someone is getting flaky or not delivering on promises.

Good luck and don't let the bastards get you down..

Oh boy, that sounds like a thankless job with an unending tide of problems and drama..... :shalom:

(and people don't even understand/appreciate how hard and relentless PIRAT works and toils for everyone's benefit here! and this job/obligation/role seems like even a far more (no referential pun intended!) Sisyphean task !

I remember this guy selling in Euros and later in Pounds; that was a red flag to me.

I'm so sorry people were scammed out of their hard-earned money. I wanted to buy a plugin from him, but his accepted payment methods were sites that I've never even heard of and I didn't feel like researching them. I'm a lazy mofo and this time it saved me from losing $50 to him. I would have otherwise sent him money just as others have here.

bummer for those who got scammed. theres another very suspicious thread ive seen lately.... i would proceed with caution. I mentioned in the thread that it was likely a scam, and got issued a warning... Always ONLY pay paypal goods and services. In case a license you buy ends up not working in 3 months.

I have thought of another idea.

What if anyone selling on this site has to provide a mod with the software they are selling. Then the buyer has to supply their payment. Once the mod receives both, it is just a simple transaction? Hmmmm, maybe not!

    Back to the drawing board!

Why would you buy a second hand plugin from a random user on Audioz when the sister site have everything you'll ever need to make music ?

Scammer is trash, buyer is a fool.

If you are gullible you will get exploited by scumbags.

in this case, licenses seemed legit, until they are shut down by the dev months later.

To be honest most of these Transactions are risky anyway.
Probably best if they are just not allowed to prevent any further scams.
If people want to trade they can do so by private PM.
Trusting complete strangers with money never goes well.

I've seen his posts here before, I'm genuinely curious on how he faked his reviews, fake accounts I'd assume? I've bought from an ukranian gentleman here before that had a similar story (studio closing down because of war, etc) and it was a genuine seller. I feel bad for him because now people will be suspicious whenever they hear such stories.

Many people have a common habit. Their logins, passwords and accounts are all automatic and in the same place, whether phone or computer.
The best thing anyone can do for themselves is to not auto-login, not keep sensitive information in an easy to access single location. That way, only one at the worst ever can be stolen and nobody ever loses most things important to them. The details in other posts cover the nitty gritty.

Wow! I’ve actually bought from this guy. Bought a license back in June. Still works but after reading this, I won’t keep my hopes up in the license staying with me for long if he’s been buying using stolen details.

@SAiNT I know its a boring work but maybe you could put updates in the topic title with ALL THE NICKNAMES we find here?

also put the picture and all the info in the main message of the thread? link his facebook and even the bands he plays in?

I dont think its out of rules, but at least this scammer is SEARCHABLE.

maybe there will be a fair solution for you and for someone else?

Agreed 200%! ... 99% of all the stuff I ever see anyone "selling" here, or elsewhere for that matter, is stuff that is readily available from the scene. Plus the scene releases are NOT loaded with garbage that forces one to tether a machine to a live net connection, or plug in a stupid dongle in order to use them. The other 1% is stuff that I would/do not use anyway due to the fact that it ain't cracked (yet).

To be perfectly honest PAYPAL is not going to protect you from much in the presence of a bad actor. Paypal still reveals way too much PII during the course of a transaction that fuckheads can use to screw you later on down the road if they are so inclined. AS for "other payment options" - this pretty much falls into the caveat emptor column wherein that little voice in the back of your head telling you to move on is indeed the correct choice to make.
