Really sad. For over a decade, Anandtech was the authority on serious tech reviews. I couldn't have imagined back then that they'd ever go away. Then Ryan took over and things seemed okay for a while, then Ian's reviews got worse with every passing year. He desperately wanted to be a tech press celeb and it showed in the quality of his work. I don't remember the last time I went to Anandtech for anything but quickly double-checking benchmark scores.

lienus from Linus tech tips, i think, wanted to use their lab, to write tests, reviews (stopped watching it after the debacle 'I'm not going to spend 20..300..500 extra dollars to shoot another video'.... when he used a heatsink prototype with the wrong gpu/card.

Maybe the lab is already finished and they're doing exactly that.

That's also good news for gamers nexus... less competition .

Anandtech had great cpu charts.... we could compare a modern cpu to, eg, a 3770k from 2010

not much to read in the article, except Tom's Guide will still be an ongoing concern, but Andandandandand is gone and gone and gone, on the upside, it says Future will leave the site up for now, so if you need something better download it or turn it into .pdf. I'm sure they'll continue to run ads and collect revenue until the hits stop coming..

    What about.. the investors ?
It would require a couple of millions, to run such website and have a few guys testing products and doing reviews...
For a long time, we would read some tech article, with a link to some anandtech article, review, etc.
It was more than a reference... their shit was really good...

Also, if a website like anandtech won't make enough cash with ads, then... who will ?

I know this might sound stupid, but...
Lie-us, sorry, I mean, linus, used to make videos for his former company, ncix, or something like that, then, it became linus tech...
+1 year ago, they were building a gigantic lab, where they wanted to write the most precise hardware reviews.. white papers, etc, and become the true reference. "Ohhh, how good this mouse is ? Let's check the ltt product review".

Anandtech already had/have tons of gpu... cpu.. etc reviews... charts.. etc etc, from +20 years ago.
That's why I ask myself... any chance for Ltt to acquire anandtech, for a few millions... and use it to post their new stuff ?

Everybody knows anandtech.... fans... people in general, would be happy to know all the anandtech stuff is preserved.. backed up... and still accessible. LTT would start posting their own articles and reviews over at there... slowly, people would know anandtech AND LTT are the same... and finally, 1 year or so, later, when most people knows who's behind it, they would rename the site to something like www.lttpress....www.lttreviews....

    Possible ?

Its a business, you might feel passionately about it, but its a business..

Future owns the IP, they are a publishing company. They should have statistics and metrics that they used to measure how many unique click (and eyeballs) per day, month, year, etc. How long do visitors stay on a particular page, etc.

Knowing these facts, we can ascertain a probability.

Future will likely funnel visitors to Tom's Hardware, once the page views diminish enough and enough time has gone by that rememberance of AnAnds writers is gone, they will farm it out to new writers for less money, increasing margins, some articles will be written by AI, maybe most. When it is cheap enough they will resurrect the site, and funnel vistiors from Tom's Hard.

it all about the $$$$$ babiessss

if LinuxTech wants AnAnd, they'll have to make an offer to future, do due diligence and figure out what its worth and if its worth the time and money (and possible baggage) or not.

What Garamondo said. Remember, Future PLC bought Toms both and Anandtech 6 years ago. The latter was around for 21 years when it was bought. They managed to end it in just 6. Fucking vultures. I am pissed now. Screw them. Cheers
