Why are almost all tutorials for beginners?

It was a good video but from a conductor. Being a conductor or orchestrator are good jobs. Full of excitement and fun. They are for the next steps.
The first step is what I mentioned in the first post. I said how to write a symphony? Not orchestrate or conduct it. Although it is not easy to find videos for these things.

Everything from a composer's point of view. This step is what is very rare. Maybe it doesn't exist at all. When you have a music notebook in front of you and you have to fill it from scratch with your own ideas.

I should probably leave this thing as you said. Because no one reveals their secrets.

These words of yours show a lot of self-confidence in you. I wonder where people got this self-overconfidence from.

Suppose you have a big ship and you get caught in a storm. What do you do in this situation? It is not possible to find a tutorial for this video.
Let's go back one step at all... how can you build a big ship? Where can I find the video? Prophet Noah built a big ship a few thousand years ago. There is not even a way to build a ship that old. You see, when something gets too big, you can't find training for it. I know you accept my words, but because your goal is to disagree with me, you pretend that my words are wrong.

Largest shipbuilding nations in 2022, based on deliveries
(China, South Korea, and Japan were the leading shipbuilding nations in 2022. China completed ships with a combined gross tonnage of around 36.7 million)

Do you really think that someone, government or a company will come and teach someone else the things that they have been thinking about for more than 100 years?

In this situation, training will never go above one level, and without high level training, music or any other product will not be bigger than one size.

All big things and events are kept secret from the public. Maybe I gave the answer to my first question myself, but I meant more that maybe I was wrong and there are places on the internet that I haven't read yet and I can find the opposite of what I said.

    How to write a symphony:

1 Learn how to compose simple piano pieces with melody in the right hand, and chords/arpeggios/alberti basses ect in the left hand

2 Learn how to compose (simple) piano pieces with two or more different voices (you should study Bach Inventions & Sinfonias for this one)

    & Learn 4 part harmony & counterpoint

3 Learn composing for other instrument groups like string quartets or whatever instrument combination floats your boat

    4 Learn Orchestration

5 Get really good at all the things mentioned above (most important step)

6 Learn to compose good chamber music or music for wind, brass, or string ensembles

    7 Start your first symphony

    8 Profit

Almost all the masters composed pieces for solo instruments, and later small ensembles before they wrote their first symphony. So maybe you should start "small", too.

If you love music and know music theory, the first 4 steps shouldn't be hard for you, especially if you think talent doesn't exist

Probably not, unless you've invented a time machine as well which case you should probably concentrate on that :bleh:

It's mind boggling how entitled some people are..... "where are the videos that are tailored to MY exact needs? people owe me this"

I want a tutorial series on becoming a multi-billionaire, but do I write an essay because there are no reliable tutorials on this topic? no

    No it isn't.

You believe Noah built a big ship?

Thanks for summarizing the whole process.

Now suppose a person goes to a shipbuilder and asks, can you show me how to build this ship? The shipbuilder says that don't worry, it's easy. First you buy some iron and steel and then you weld them together and finally you make an engine and start it. As simple as that.

What if God gives the person specific instructions on how to write a symphony, like he did Noah, who wasn't a shipbuilder?

There you go @ULX - you won't find any answers from Youtube. Only from God.
Or from the Special Secret Societies that guard this valuable information, but you haven't proven yourself worthy enough to be admitted to them.

Could've learned and practised counterpoint 1-3 aplenty in the time you wasted coming up with more ridiculous reasons why you shouldn't begin learning.

I wonder how hard you were trying to negotiate on your first day of school..

Paraphrasing the great Louis Pasteur, "Where music is concerned, chance favors only the prepared mind."

Should be fairly obvious, things don't happen that often with just luck. And when it comes to music, a metric fuckton of it is already written down. Well not all of course, plenty of shit out there to discover, but knowing what has been discovered is kind of helpful.

Useless to moan if something is not given to you on silver platter.

Remember, this is the same person who started a multi page thread arguing there is no objective reality at all. Since symphonies, tutorials and music as a whole (not to mention the world they all "exist" in) are subjective constructs that could change or disappear tomorrow I don't understand what value there is in "learning".

As a multi-platinum pro who worked in NYC, Atlanta, and LA at the largest studios for the largest corporate labels I can say from my perspective that only beginners are looking for tutorial videos, to cut the necessary 10,000 hours it takes to become proficient in any skill area. Beginners want short cuts or "secrets" so they can speed up their success timeline... but only hiring other professionals will speed anything up and that takes money. If you don't have the money it will take time and work... what they used to refer to as "elbow grease" or "sweat equity", aka hard work.

    So you can:
    1. Hire a promotion company, marketing company, booking agent, and event company then you'll get your 100K concert in motion and this time next year we'll all be witness to your on stage musical brilliance.

    2. Study and learn all the different skills needed to create, market, and promote your concert.

    3. Network and meet the different skilled people in your area while building a dedicated fanbase you serve to one day be able to put on the concert.

Thus... either pay people with the 10,000 in their skill areas to do the work for you, spend the time to learn the different 10,000 hour skills yourself to do it, or befriend, build, and cultivate relationships and fans that help you do it.

Also on a side note, an internship is the old way of learning from a professional.
I taught 3 of my assistants the upper level work skills needed to succeed and all 3 went on to working with large professionals... I would not know where to start on youtube as upper level skills require a large knowledge base from the learner and every person is at a different place. None of it is rocket science top secret skill, it's just a different level of experience and understanding of tools.

    IE:
In the fall of 2009 I was in Zac's Stonehenge room in Atlanta working on a song with J West that featured RayJ called, "She Bad", you can easily find it on youtube. I was tracking vocals all night with my assistant, teaching him as we worked when he had questions. In the morning 2 other engineers who worked that room daily came in and were dumbfounded at the raw vocal quality we cut. They kept asking me what chain did I use, how did I cut them, why I cut it that way, all easy questions in the moment in that room. I showed them the chain and exactly what and why I did what I did for that session. I could NOT make a youtube video about that today as in the moment my decisions were dictated by the artist I was tracking and the issues they presented, the room and available gear tools in that room, and the overall sound the producer (Jazzy Pha) wanted that night on that song.

So I could make a video about creative confidence and discuss understanding different tonal variations allowing different solutions while tracking different vocalists, but that would only be watched by a few hundred people at best, as most of it would be more philosophical and would require the listener had thousands of hours experience in all the areas of skill, and there's zero reason I would prioritize making that video when I can be composing, writing, recording, or mixing new music that inspires me.

So you see, it's not always a planned conspiracy of professionals guarding top secret info... most time I bet those pro's are just busy making music, playing with their kids, hanging with friends, or their spouse and derive little joy putting out random videos to help strangers shortcut their 10,000 hours.
