    Hi all

Was out looking for some update for HAKA sonokinetics (Kontakt 5) at their website today! No update to find, but something else that (at least for me) was serious news!

Sonokinetic claims that they have watermarked their libraries (download-wise)

I pretty much doubt this, but on the other hand ... who actually knows if this is a fact?

    Any suggestions?

Yes, they imbed the customer ID into the NKI. So if it ever get shared they can trace it

Clever announcement. What could they do - other than that - to try to protect their libraries ?
My wife was also watermarked, but that doesn't stopped me from being a cuckold... :dunno:

... and then the original owner will claims he lost his USB key which contains the product. Cost : 10 euros.
    End of story.

"What if I lose my library and my backup. Or can I get my download ticket to be refreshed?
    - Backup & Refresh Policy: If you lose your Sonokinetic library or need a new download you can get a refreshed download ticket for 10 euros. Just send us your purchase email, we’ll issue a payment request and we’ll provide a refreshed download ticket. Due to our use on Amazon servers (for a speedy download and 100% fail safe guarantee) we have to pay for bandwidth."

Yes no one has to worry about this unless you are the sharer.

Watermarks put me off buying from a company. I really like ddmf eq's and was about to buy one but i was told they watermark there products so i spent the money elsewhere with Tone2 Bifilter. I'm not sure if anyone else shares this worry or am i just being picky. I just dont understand this watermark stuff enough including how it could effect sound :dunno: would be nice to have a list of watermarking companys

damn it....Is this the reason why many good Sonokinetic libraries are not released??
Is there still any chance for us to get Tutti or H.I.P.P. ?

They can do nothing obviously, as it's said before: you could have lost it, someone could have stolen your computer etc.

If you would be responsible for all that I guess no one would buy this stuff in the first place.

there is no such thing as watermarking sound. It's possible to do but no company would claim to being putting that into their plugins as this suggests noise, or artefacts are being introduced.

Also if you did have their plugin trace in your music what could they do about it. Your song is mastered and touched by many people so any one of them could be the culprit not you.

As far as watermarking the NKI files, that's crap too. Any release team would strip that out and if they didn't who cares. They can't legally say that you are responsible, there are too many people in between who potentially have access, such as a studio used by many people. And then how do they prove that your download was leaked, i mean if you give someone your NKI files, it's not you who pirated them is it. It's the person who shared them. It's not up to you to keep your NKIs from being shared. Computers are not used by one person they are communal, to suggest any individual is responsible would always be difficult or legally impossible. Also as far as law goes, the law in one part of the world is not enforceable in the other. They can't claim a US law can be in effect in say China or Russia, especially if the location of the cracked or warez isn't in the US.

I pay for plenty of software and samples but only the good ones i think deserve support. 99% of samples and scds are totally worthless and are recycled old samples anyways, finding new and original content that isn't just a synth sampled in a daw is almost impossible. Live loops practically don't exist.
