A dop of this whenever I change my stings (and that's only when they REALL need changing).

I got this product for my LesPaul fretboard (it was so dry when I bought the guitar second hand it was a real shame... but a steady feed of this brough it back to life after a few months) and it seems to make the strings last a bit longer. But my sweat strips any coatings pretty quick and even quicker if I've been eating my favourite foods... :)

If it's good for your fragile asshole. It's good for your fragile instrument.
Also lubricant for ass is medical and when you using it on instrument you touching it with raw hands and you are sure your skin doesn't absorb some dangerous chemicals.

In some situations, such as playing for extended periods or using older strings, I will use Dunlop 65 string cleaner and conditioner. It acts as a mild lubricant, in addition to its other benefits. If you wipe down your guitar after every playing session and keep the strings clean, string friction issues will be less of a problem.

oh god coated strings are coated so they last longer they also deaden the sound , fast fret works ok for playability as far as oiling the neck that. is to protect the wood in the neck nothing more you dont need alot and if your neck looks wet. you. dont need to oil the neck. a problem with. alot of products out there is they strip more then they put back. the dunlop stuff is crap I use Music Nomad Formula One. lint free paper towel (blue ones like mechanics use) to apply and once applied wipe off you dpnt need to let it soak in unless the neck is super dry. the soaking thing you dont want as doing this get oit under the frets the wood swells and will push frets up. lacquered necks like one that come on fenders dont need oil just cleaning.

Lastly for better playability polish. your frets!!!! you'd be amazed what fresh frets do for playability. Music Nomad has a product called "FRINE" it comes with everything u need to do your guitar. 100 times. Before i use it though i go over the frets with. Fine steal wool then polish comes out like glass

not that it matters but i am a guitar tech by trade and spent way too many years on tour so i kinda knw what im doing ( just reference from where all this comes)

coconut oil, same as I use on my rosewood fretboards. They say not to use organic oils as they can become rancid, however I've been using coconut oil since 2013 without problems. I find its nice its nontoxic and I don't mind a film on my fingers as its easy to remove if needed.

I usually clean and lube the fretboard every 6 months or so, and apply a coat of coconut oil over the strings and fretboard, if its an acoustic I put it on the bridge as well. leave for 5 minutes or so, and wipe off excess, may need to slacken strings to get the frets cleaned out, the oil acts a good carrier for removing tarnish, oxidation and old skin dust that accumulates amongst the other bits and bob of daily use and living. A paper towel usually works better than an old sock as less dust and lint from paper.

I have also used lemon oil, but who knows what is in it besides lemon scent? they vary greatly many are petroleum based, you really don't want to use a water based lubricant on wood as it will raise the grain.

    good luck and good arpeggios...
