Yeah just got bitten by the US Netflix crackdown on Canadian users ;) VPN not working anymore. Ah well, heh They push, we push back. Not really anything new, I've been doing this since the early 80's and there's always some problem we circumvent.

You could not be more correct. "Evolution" is always a factor.

There are always subterfuges (long-term) political objectives when dealing with America's two biggest competitors (one economic, the other militarily).

I am internet paranoid. When someone pulls the plug, I hope I have saved enough data to pull through.

Well, when music software devs charge $850-$2850 for their 30MB piece of software, you can't expect no one to pirate it. Especially if it's overpriced. You ever see the price of Waves mercury bundle? $6,100-$7,600! Who the hell pays that for a bundle of software?!?!? On the other hand, if it's too cheap, it will also probably be pirated. So pricing can also be an issue at times as well. You have to price it just right, like a "goldilocks" price. Also, understand that most people pirate stuff because they're poor, and simply can't afford all that stuff due to other expenses (Ie: Bills, taxes, health, food, etc). While it's nothing compared to what it cost to develop the stuff, most people don't have hundreds of bucks just to blow on software/movies/games/music. Some people also pirate more stuff than they need, and then they have 100 petabytes of music/movies/software/photos/porn on hundreds of hard drives. As to music, there are also other alternatives, like spotify (who don't pay the musicians shit, which for that reason I highly recommend avoiding it, as you probably won't get jack shit). You can stream the whole song for almost any song and the musicians get 0.7¢ per time you press the play button (Hence jack shit).
Piracy has been around for a long time. It's been around since the beginning of time. When Ugga-Thunga and his tribe couldn't kill the woolly mammoths for his fur jackets, he stole it all of Sir Ooka-Ook Jr's and gave them to passerby's for free. Every generation has it's "Piracy". It wasn't always called "piracy", it was called other things. Maybe our ancestors called it "Ooaooaooaooaooaaah! Bung bunga woohaa!" Now flash forward to 2016 AD, and people have their heads in their phones, talking about the new TV series on Netflix, it's the digital millennium.
This torrenting/pircay is the modern "Ooaooaooaooaooaaah! Bung bunga woohaa!" LOL
But for these reasons, I'm a firm believer that online piracy isn't gonna be anywhere near defeated anytime soon. For some people it's just how they get their fair consumption of media/materials, because they don't really have many other options. And in time, if this is all taken away from them like you may be suggesting/fearing, my prediction is that there will eventually be an upheaval of violence - a war to take back the internet, a war to take back freedom (well, where there was any. Hey USA, everyone's looking at you). When shit really starts to get real, believe me when I say you will truly know it.

    Peace

I remember asking for ZX Spectrum games in cassettes and spend hours copying them on a double deck.
    I now download 10 4k movies in 10 minutes.
Even if the internet ends, copied content will always exists.

My thoughts on the subject are:
It matters not one whit, what "I" think, or believe, or imagine.

The world, and specifically humans, ARE AS THEY ARE.

I missed this interesting thread.. let's see. When I think "anti-piracy" what pops out in my mind would be:

Audioz: Group R2R, VR, TCD, TeamFuck...
    Gamez: Group Tenoke, FitGirl ...
Moviez, showz: Group MINX, RARBG, PSA...
    Porn: xvideos, pornhub...
Muzic, other soft: too long list, brain stack overflow

    In no particular order:rofl:

Well, once something reaches mainstream popularity it will get mainstream attention. Streaming sites and IPTV are the highest profile things for this, should be obvious they will get antipiracy eyes on them.

Meanwhile anything else continues thriving underground. Always has, always will.

Why pirate Netflix? I wouldn't watch that sh*t even if you paid me.
