I don't understand, saving searches? When I clear the search field like that thing you access with CTRL + F there is no search history if you mean that.
So this bug doesn't only affect me, huh? I hit pause on the bottom of the screen where it says "Analysis" and stuff but I am not sure if this is the correct workaround.

Advanced view? Excuse me? Are we talking about the same DAW or did I lose my mind completely :trolls:
Live has no advanced view and no hidden windows to my knowledge.
Logic has that option, but not Ableton.
Is the backside of the rack in Reason also an advanced view? You could argue for that, no? :>

Nop, at least not to my knowledge.

What I mean is: If you look in the View menu of LIve 12 you will see that some mixer and arrangement track controls are hidden by default that were normally visible in LIve 11 by default.

    You mean like input etc?
    Just use the shortcuts
    https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/live-keyboard-shortcuts/
They make it super easy to unhide and hide the interface. No advanced hidden view in Live, it's all simple and accessible.

So now that I've worked with Live 12 for a few weeks I can say: non-destructive MIDI editing and Philip Meyers MIDI tools are a godsend.
I feel like I don't have to fight my DAW when it comes to doing these things anymore :like:

It still baffles me every single time when someone's 1st (or even 101st) gripe with a piece of audio gear/software is the aesthetics of the GUI or anything involving how subjectively "pretty" or "ugly" it is.

    Absurd.

It's not just the looks (although they do make a difference for me too) but also the workflow that's behind the UI.
If that didn't matter then we might have a lot more Reaper users here. Not criticizing Reaper at all, but apparently a lot of people don't want to go the extra mile to learn it.
Ableton feels like everything is right in front of me, in a logical and accessible way, and although I would never rate it as the most beautiful DAW UI, it's my favorite working environment nonetheless. And it's scalable. A big plus.

I abstained from including workflows in my disagreement because that's a valid point, that's why i am only speaking on matters of aethestics. Workflow as it relates to the UI in general is a different conversation entirely, saying something is "ugly" would not be enough to qualify as a hindrance to workflow.

You are right. It is not a hinderance to workflow. But for many users, it is a first indication of all aspects of the application. If an application developer cannot make their program have a clean, modern appearance; that is almost always a sign they are not going to do a much better job with more complex aspects of their product. Plugins get more of a pass on that maybe.

How many excellent software applications do you know of, in 2024; where the user interface is terrible? REAPER might be the most widely mentioned about it's boring appearance and also how customizable it's appearance is. But even they get it. Look at V7. It would not dissuade me from using it at all, even in its default installation state.

    Hi,
it's a pretty cool tool, with lots of possibilities available, it's up to you to use it according to your needs, to feel at ease, updates can be appreciated or not, it took me a while to get used to version 12, it's a good software, I come from the world of Atari and Notator, see the Roland MC 500 sequencer..., working with Live is just a pleasure! no comparison with other software, each one has its own way of working.

all microsoft office products become more terrible with their interface with each iteration. I'd use office 2003 if I didn't have to run it in a virtual machine every time I wanted to use it.

I don't have a huge problem with anything you've said here and the assumptions you're implying that could be made upon 1st glance at a piece of software are legitimate potential assumptions that could be made. However, at the end of the day, on the micro for you as the individual, it just simply shouldn't matter.

From an outside perspective and theorizing how people "could" react, you're correct. I'm speaking more to the other end of the equation (end-user) that from an individual standpoint it should not matter to you at all. We have issues in the modern age with visual dopamine-preying cues everywhere, don't let that also affect your job (especially considering the job is based entirely on the sense of hearing not sight).

But again, I'm not saying you're wrong because you're not lol but you should be wrong if what actually matters is all that was focused on by users
