hi,in cubase 13 pro if i load one of my own track presets,i.e. a vst with a sound,i cant hear anything if i play midi keyboard.
it works ok in cubase pro 11.
there is a little orange circle beside the vst name in inspector, does this mean something?
    thanks

I think you maybe referring to 'Record Enable' on each track, when you change track it will switch to the track highlighted.
With 'Record Enable' off on selected track, you won't hear anything when played on a midi keyboard.

honestly your post is confusing, thats why samsum answered that way

you talking "your own track preset", in Cubase this means a very specific thing, it means that you can prelisten to a VSTi without loading it in the project, but I am not sure you mean that

you mean just playing a VSTi with your midi keyboard?

would be better to specify what do you need because it's confusing sorry

and yes the "orange circle" is the magic button to make an instrument play, even if the track is not selected. maybe there's some preference you changed. Is the track you wanna play selected, then the "red circle" is automatically lighten up?

Maybe take a screenshot of what you mean and post here with [Upload a File (Grey Button) at the bottom right].
Also if you hover your mouse over a button it should tell you what it is

bypass and disable Triton plugin in the track. You could even start a new empty project to do this. Make a new channel of Triton and put a big long midi note at something like C2 or C3 on the new channel. You can drag that long midi note up and down in the piano roll and see if you get sound with it playing. Try a couple of different presets.

That will rule out all settings you have done on the first channel in your real project. Do not duplicate the first channel, make it a brand new default midi track with a Triton instance. Play it and see if you get sound. Add another VST you know works on a new midi track; a stock one in Cubase might be best for this. Try a couple of different presets. Verify your keyboard is able to play the other instrument track. If not, issue is your keyboard. If that works, it is either Cubase settings or your Triton plugin which is the problem.

If the plugin is not a legit copy, the plugin losing sound is often what happens. The same thing applies to effects plugins. Your channel strip chain will all be working until the signal flow reaches your dead plugin. Then no sound will be output to the next plugin in your channel strip's effects chain signal flow. This is my guess what it really is, but you have to be systematic to land at that conclusion. Doing this the long way (5 minutes anyway) will let you test without screwing up your work in the real project file.

It can also be a good time to check if there is an update version of your Triton plugin you could reinstall it with. If the problem is non-legit plugin, did you use an r2r version? Their release depends on you having their Software Pass installed and valid. You can quickly rule that out by trying another Korg plugin you probably installed at the same time.

thanks for reply. im not at home to try this, but i can say that it happens for any of my track presets that i saved.
by the way,the kind of track preset im talking about is,i may come across a nice preset on a vst synth, and then save it as a track preset, calling it bass1,pad1, etc etc
then(in cubase 11) i would have clicked on load track preset, and click on one of my named track presets, and it loaded the vst that that preset was in.
in my cubase 13 regardless which of my saved track presets i load i cannot hear anything.

oh sorry I forgot this thread apologize!
hmm---now I HOPE I have understood whats your problem.

well why you use "extract sound from track preset"? You dont need it
    You need "load track preset"
ALT+SHIFT+T (it should be a default keyboard short cut if I am not wrong)

    anyhow here's the menu
    track preset.png
    .
    .
    .

after that you have a search box, you can search whatever you have saved
    track finder.png
    .
    .
    .
    .
IF YOU HAVE already a VSTi track loaded
you can open the channel and use this menu to load you track preset

    I forgot

you can also use the media bay, search for what you need then you can

1- drag and drop track preset in the project list to create a new track
2- drag and drop the track preset INTO an existing track

no man, the problem is that "THE INSTRUMENT IS NOT LOADED" or better it appear to be disabled, because he loads a wrong track preset probably. The orange alert (my arrow in red) means that the instrument is not loaded or shut down, look at my blue arrow, the instrument is OFF. Thats the problem, nothing else.

R2R is perfect as usually lol no need to check unistall reinstall or something

he has just to load the right track preset
