Nowadays i can't identify with these artists anymore. But i still feel the music. So i'm basically enjoying the music, while pushing aside my resentment for the artists. It's like pretending it's still back in the day when i could'nt understand what they were saying anyway and i didn't know who they really were and what they represented. It just needs some willful ignorance these days. Especially in Hip Hop :winker:

With that said, i feel like Jay-Z is the one thing on this album that i could do without. And i'm one of the people who bought the album back in the day. But don't get this the wrong way, i can still enjoy the music. Imo the beats slap a bit harder in these versions than the original Linkin Park songs.

Jay-Z had some fantastic beats. Undeniable classics. I'm always interested in checking out the samples used in some songs, and through that i've found some great music as well. I believe it was you who asked about The Menahan Street Band in this thread some sites back? I was scrolling through this thread as a guest and your post reminded me of this song:

It's a good example of a song where i prefer the original now over the sample used in a hip hop beat. Usually it's the other way around for me.

For those who are interested which song the sample was used in:

Man, i feel you. I was huge fan of LP at my early age, but always had mixed feelings about Jay-Z, because of what you're saying. I mean, i don't really like the fact that he leveraged his carrer with dope money, yet acts like he is an innocent dude.
On the other hand like you said he had some undeniable classics and i cant help myself but feel like a little pimp sometimes haha..
That said even though he is fact criminal, i still have some respect for young Jay-Z. I mean, i consider his flow pretty unique and that's a talent. Not to mention he doesnt write his lyrics, he just make them and memorize, on the spot.

Loved that you picked this song as an example!
EDIT: about your previous post, yes a little bit too much
    slow and steady is better

Well, i'm sure Mr. Carter had to get quite the amount of dirt off his shoulders, if you know what i mean :winker:. No one becomes the first Rap Billionaire without doing any shady stuff, in my honest opinion. But you're right, at least lyrically he had some talent. Compared to some newer Rappers he's like Shakespeare or something :winker:

Glad you liked my example  I was just wondering if i even know anything else by them, and after a quick search i remembered that they were featured on some great Charles Bradley songs. Always a nice feeling remembering songs you haven't listened to in a while!

And to your advice: I will take that to heart when i'm posting something in the future

Fucked if I can concentrate on music at the moment, so why not entertain myself with something that's annoyingly elusive?

Can't go wrong with some German-Turkish acieeed then. Whatever, great tune still.

I used to think this album was a joke but now I find it very soothing and it helps prepare me for the inevitable release of death.

    Robert Plant - Mighty Rearranger
Being a Zephead for more than 40 years and therefore listened a couple of Mr. Plant's solo works during that time I am scratching my head trying to remember how I had skipped this album. Not bad, not quite half as bad... Me liking it

Notes? Where we're going we NEED NO GODDAMN NOTES!

Nowhere close their best, but always good for a quick pick-me-up (+ the translation of the title makes me laugh).
