then i guess your DAW supports multicore - awsome. It could be that ostirus runs in rosetta mode, this is a trainwreck ... again if you have more question, join their discord, the support team there will help you.
I have a little less roundhouse and output latency on a 12 year old Mac. Slighty offtopic question. actually totally: Does a driver from a RME or other interface (MOTU?), instead of using CoreAudio, make a "big" difference to shave off a few ms? I can get a used RME Multiface 2 relatively cheap from someone, that's why I am asking. Last edited by a moderator: May 3, 2024
I think maybe the 128 sample i/o buffer setting in that animated screenshot is probably not necessary. But with the Motu at 128 to match, it is 6.9, 3.4 ms. At 64 like normal, it is 4ms/2ms using the Motu pro audio drivers etc, Core Audio Enabled in Logic. I don't know about the RME, but it's probably similar. I have no issue with playback or baking using the TI plugin at 64 samples buffer. Many other AU plugin synths I use are heavier than this. They did an excellent job optimizing it. I did not try all the beta versions so that may explain my surprise.
So OsTIrus is working in Logic for you? Intel or Apple silicon? I can't browse any presets on M1. And I'm not on Discord, so can't get help there.
you can always try TG Pro to observe Mac temperatures and eventually adjust its fan(s) speed curves for somewhat better cooling if needed
Intel, macOS 10.13, Logic 10.4. That is weird the preset browser does not work for you, but the rest of the plugin does? Hmm. I have only been trying out the patches in the RAM banks and the ROMs. With the Firmware TI2 ROM loaded. I have not changed any of the default plugin settings either. I can't see how it should matter, but what ROM do you have loaded? What doesn't work about the Preset Browser? Normally when I have a problem with a plugin, the entire thing doesn't work. Could this have something to do with Permissions? Try granting read-write-execute permissions for everyone to the ROM file. Also, might as well try codesigning it. Normally, if something does not work I will just move on. For this one and free; I would go as far as disabling SIP. Last edited: May 3, 2024
Thank you very much for the information! So it's because you are on Intel. If I force Logic to run in Rosetta mode, everything works as it should, so the Intel code is ok, it's just the arm part of the plugin that doesn't work. Hope they fix it in an update.
Thanks! Same here. Runs like a champ. The duplicate presets could be cleaned up, but that's about it.
You put the firmware.bin in the same folder as your plugin. So either /Library/Audio/Plugins/VST3 or /Components. If you use both plugin formats in various hosts, put a copy in each folder. Actually, if you right click (control+click) on the preset browser, in the 3rd column to the right; there is an option in that menu to Hide Duplicates by Name, and also by Hash. You can actually select both at the same time, and it cleans it up an enormous amount. That still has a lot to do with the patches we can import as data sources; maybe a strange ---- line or @#@# random characters in that list can cause small number of invalid entries. But it makes the problem # of duplicates go way way down. I think a very cleaned up, consolidated collection of Soundsets will maybe give a more "perfect" solution. But that is a lot of work. Dupe kill both options at the same time, and it's close enough.
Good morning, I have already installed OSTIRUS and the ROM. Thank you very much in advance for the support of this forum. But now I have another question and it is the following: I have 3 sysex files that contain many banks and presets, which I would like to install as well.... Is there anyone here who can help me with the installation of the sysex? Thanks in advance, greetings.
Read the error message you probably got already. Click browser, right click the Data Sources Menu item on the left, and point the plugin at where you keep all your files. It will import them all. Or try using the files option there. But seriously, if you are using the firmware ROM that contains all the original factory banks, it will also pull in the older Virus banks as .mid files. Anything saved as sysex files is likely from Virus A-C models. Get a current collection of .mid Soundsets and you will have more patches than you could ever individually test.
