all other instruments record automation fine ..anyone know how to get the automation recording for Diversion in Logic ?

I haven't used that synth in a long time, but you can probably just use Latch Automation mode on the track. So switch automation mode to Latch, then hit Play on transport, and then move any controls on the synth. A CC Lane will be created for each parameter and you will see it drawing automation.

You could use Touch mode also, but that overwrites a static parameter value over any automation from the point you stop recording it, until the end of the file.

So then you are stuck only using Write mode? You also could try using Logic Smart Controls. Highlight your midi track ,hit B, then the i icon in the corner. Then add Parameter Mappings. I would maybe even cheat and stick a MFX plugin in front of it. If you have a midi controller, you could just assign a bunch of parameters to the controller with Midi Learn in the plugin.
