This is not a request, rather a kind of odd question.

Is it even possible for the old LABS plugin/libraries to be cracked?

I'm not knowledgeable in the world of coding, reverse engineering, or cracking, so I genuinely don't know if it would even be possible (considering it requires use of a separate application for installing libraries, user login, and also contains paid Spitfire libraries as part of the Spitfire app).

Can the VST/AU components and libraries for LABS function without the use of the Spitfire app itself?

I know that the Spitfire App itself has never been cracked.

If you drag old LABS libraries to a different computer with a functional LABS plugin working in in a DAW, you will get errors saying that the libraries need to be repaired, even if the files and file structure are the same and you are logged in to the Spitfire App on the latter computer (I guess LABS libraries need server authentication?)

In case anybody isn't aware yet, Spitfire terminated the old LABS plugin and replaced it with a new plugin (let's call it LABS+)

But they did this in a very shifty way.

- Old LABS will no longer function with the new LABS+ app installed (errors showing up in Old LABS with LABS+ installed).

- They also made it so that you cannot re-download or fix any of your existing LABS libraries in the old app. It just gives you a message to update to the new LABS+ app (this was intentionally added in the last update of the Spitfire app to kill old LABS immediately).

- New LABS+ is a hybrid platform that has the old libraries available for download BUT features a new super cool Subscription Model where you can pay to have access to the better libraries. It starts at $10 a month I believe.

- LABS+ requires a constant internet connection to function in any manner (not just for installing libraries or first time login).

Old LABS did not require an internet connection to function within a DAW. Once your libraries were installed you were good to go unless you started deleting files or messing with the library location.

Can anybody more knowledgeable than me explain if there is any possible way to revive the old LABS plugin?

Can LABS even function outside of the Spitfire App that is used to install libraries? It seems that authenticating with a server was required for the old LABS libraries (but I don't know a lot about how Spitfire implements this).

As for now, LABS is dead.

I highly doubt LABS+ is going to make the money that Spitfire thinks it will. I've been reading of people abandoning LABS due to the internet connection requirement.

Spitfire had a good thing to spark interest in their company and create a community, and then killed it for a cash grab Sub service. Great work Spitfire.

 

It can But just like a LOT of things, no one actually wants to and would rather cluter everything with useless stuff no one cares about.
