    I've installed Superior Drummer 3 ver 3.0.1.
Been trying to update to the latest version but I keep getting the following message:

    "C:\ProgramData\Toontrack\Superior Drummer3\Toontrack\desktop.ini
An error occurred while trying to copy a file: Out of memory."

Does anyone have a solution for this?

UNplug the target machine from internet if not already and leave it that way.

Assuming you're working from a FULL install of v3.01 with installed factory library to match, you need to obtain interim updates to bring it up to a point where it will accept the latest version. In some cases along the way you'll need to update the factory library as well in order for the next updates in the chain to install correctly.

So I need to update it version by version until I get to one close enough to the most recent one? How do I do that?

The base install of v3.0.1 and associated factory library is working (i.e. no corrupt files etc.) on it own, yes? If not you may have corrupt installer bits. Or something running on the system is preventing proper operation.

If you haven't already, turn off all a/v and/or malware scanners and any other autonomous "protection" services that could be interfering with the installer. You might check to make certain the folders/areas of the system you are targeting for the install have proper permissions for the installer to do its thing.

Also, I have no idea what type of system it is you are attempting to install SD3 on so you might check the SD3 minimum requirements and make certain the target machine has the resources to support it.

    Checked everything, still the same.
There's also a weird thing. The VSTi's dll gets erased when I try to update, I'm assuming it's supposed to reappear once the update finishes normally?

Yep. The updater will need to replace those files with the updated ones. If it's not, there's only a handful of things that could be happening - either there is something on the system interfering with the update, the updater might possibly be corrupted, or possibly some pre-existing malware or virus, etc...

The installer's, assuming you got them from reputable sources, do work as many here will attest to, so the issue has to be local to your system barring all other issues mentioned above.

    Some misc tips;
    - As a rule most folks don't use C: drive for installing the library files. They can get huge and use up C: drive space quickly.
    - Keep the install paths to all files as short as possible.

@Ori there is no need for a second thread about the same issue. I quoted your OP from the other thread before deleting it so other members can reply here.

'Hi there, so I'm trying to install Superior Drummer 3 version 3.0.1,
and every time I run the installer I get the following message.

"Error 1320. The specified path is too long.
    C:\ProgramData\Toontrack\Superior Drummer3\Database."

Does anyone know how to fix it?'

whos release of 3.0.1 did you install? you might wanna try updating incrementally IE 3.1 >3.2>3.3>3.3.7 or at least until you a get a lower version of a VR release to work. might be 3.3.7 isnt seeing something it needs

Sorry about that, it was when my pc failed to install the first version at all. I tried to remove the thread once I managed to get it done but didn't know how.

It's definitely something on your system preventing things from working. VSTtz is a reputable enough source. It is possible that something got corrupted in transit however with torrent the possibility is slim since that protocol is robust enough to correct for such things. The only thing really left to check are windows eventlogs to see if any discernible errors are being generated by the installer or the system.

no install version might be your issue, my advice remove all of the app that was on your system Use BCuninstaller and get rid of any trace of SD3 and just start with the VR versions also MOVE YOUR LIBRARY as to not remove that as you can point your new install to that location to save any kits you might already have. or drop it in the new default location after the VR version ive had no issue with since day one
