Yes, the RX1200 and the SP950. What do you mean with "disinterested party"?

I never said that these plugins sound like the hardware, I said that I failed at the AB tests (which you didn't take, according to you) that I took.

What do you mean? That I can't setup a proper blind test without having bought the hardware? Or the plugin? That's nonsense. Again, it's hard to take your statements seriously when the only things corroborating them is your faith in them.

I use this one for a quite long time. In fact i never A/B both the inphonik and PTF capture. But i will do it now and come back with a result

Edit: Ok, it really has nothing to do with the capture. The capture has much more detail, crunch and energy than the plugin, both at the same input levels.

I said both of these plugins do not sound like the hardware. And so you now retreat to the position of "I never said that, but I am disagreeing with you". They do not sound like the hardware, and paying this developer to take advantage of your inexperience is not my problem.

If you want to pay for snake oil, have at it. Waste your money, but you are done wasting my time.

Why would I care for what you said? You were the one that replied to me and my comment in the first place, not the opposite lol. And yes, I never said that RX1200 sounded like the hardware, feel free to take a screenshot of me saying that and I'll retract my statement, otherwise you're embarrassing yourself. I have compared, to the best of my ability, these plugins with the OG and consistently failed. You, on the other hand, already stated that you didn't even conduct a blind test before you decided to hate on them and its developers, and so far, you haven't even demonstrated any reasonable motive to do so other than "MEH I HATE THEM, IT'S SNAKE OIL!". Do better, with all due respect but I'm not wasting your time, it's the opposite. Feel free to get back at me whenever you have anything substantial to say, I'm always open to reconsider any beliefs I hold based on quality evidence.

Just curious. What are you after?
The sound of the SP1200 AD/DA converters?
Or the sound of its sample re-pitching algorithm?
Only the latter is somewhat unique imo.

I use both on a raondom basis in the same track to have different flavour like having 3-4 different hardware units in the studio, I agree with your feedback, but I think you noticed that driving the input of the plugin emu affects the sound drammatically, I wouldnt compare them because the plugin is tweakable, the PTF not. Just different flavours for different situations, but I appreciate both.

I would mainly go for the converters. I think we all agree that a VST cant get a 100% same result as an original hardware unit, but I was just curious if there is any other plug than Decimort who can probably do a better job. Btw, I bought the plugin yesterday (RX1200) via PB and they have a new system called Beatport Access to download your plugins. The plugin is freezing all the time, so I contacted 3 different customer services (PB, Beatport Access and the developer)... Dont buy it via PluginBoutique.

    Truth time folks....
The SP1200 sound comes from different sources, the converters and chips, the software, and analog filters on the outputs.
    So...
Unless you have ALL those you will NEVER get the SP sound fully, and there is no software that actually does them all, because Quantum computer do not exist yet. Today all we have is the software thus we are missing the unique input 12bit 26KHz converters and Rosum chips and those analog output filters, and I do mean filters as outs 1-2 have different filters than 3-6, while 7-8 don't have analog filter chips. Dave Rosum make the chips today, but alas they are hardware, and NOBODY properly mimics them in software, despite their claims, lol.

I spent many years testing all the software, finally giving up and purchased an Isla S2400 and easily get the SP 1200 sound now. I can say you can't do in software what my S2400 does either. Also I sold my Akai S1000 when I bought my S2400, and nothing in software can do the Akai S series sound either.

Before you come at me sideways know that I've owned the Ensoniq Mirage, EPS, EPS 16 plus, ASR 10, ASR 10 rack, ASR X, ASR X Pro, MPC 2000, MPC 2000XL, MPC 4000, and S1000. I've used many other samplers too in major and smaller studios over the decades. I work hybrid today and love my PC DAW and my Mac Studio DAW synced to my hardware via my Innerclock Sync-Gen 3LX. So I'm not a rookie on here typing to just look cool like some here.

You can't drive IR tech like you can the hardware and Proteus has not come of age, the aliasing is just bad in the tech and so far from accurate it's comical. Nebula is the closest IR can get to properly capturing it, but it's still lacking the input drive possibilities.

We agree, it's a physically impossibility to get 100% same result in software as the hardware, lol.
It does not mean the software is bad or not a useful tool, it's just not the same, lol.

railkiller2376 literally said that one CAN'T get a "100% same result as an original hardware unit", are you disagreeing with that? Take a moment to read before you reply, no one in this whole thread is suggesting that plugins can achieve the same result as the hardware unit. We are discussing if it's possible to get close to the real deal to the point of failing a blind test (which seems to be the trend here).

Are there any schematics available about this infamous AD/DA circuit somewhere ?

I will do it, right now!

Today, we've just released "On/Off", an FX plugin based on our revolutionary APCQMA (Advanced Physical & Chemical Quantum Modulation Analysis) technology.

After 6 years, 4 months, 2 weeks, 5 days and 15 hours of development, we are proud to annonce that "On/Off" can achieve the EXACT 100% SAME result as its hardware counterpart.

    Here is how it works:

    1. Insert "On/Off" on a track.
    2. As long as the "On" (default) position is engaged, the sound of the track remains perfectly untouched.
    3. But when you switch it to "Off"... then the magic happens!: the sound stops with the EXACT SAME DELAY as if it was stopped by a $0.5 hardware switch!

Available for Mac and PC at an introductory price of $9.9 (instead of $99).

Fell free to ask for a one day fully functional demo!
(Note: preset saving is disabled in the demo version.)

Yes, the plugin is convincing, even if the sound doesn't have the same refinement. I like it too. It's a cool distortion and can give the vibe and the intention of Akai stuff, even if it's roughly not the same thing. Something like the Waves Scheps 73 compared to a 1073 HW.

It was late and after a long day in studio I misread his post, thought he wrote can, that's my mistake.

In the comments section of the video comparing the sound of a real SP1200 and the RX-1200 from Inphonik there is an interesting remark... and its answer:

    @dobanyi
"why is the attack very different on the plugin? It has like a small fade-in on the first transient on every clip"

    Inphonik
"We agree. This is the most obvious difference in our current audio model. We'll do our best to address this in the future."

    @seekingtruthonly.4299
"That's what I heard as well. The initial transient isn't there."

I'm curious to know if this issue was adressed in the v1.0.2 update that I've just requested on our sister site...

You do have the option of loading your samples into Emu X3, it's for download on sister site, and it has an SP- 1200 effectbuilt in.

    Presumably, E-Mu would have made the best E-Mu SP-1200 effect . . .

Why do people call plugins "snake oil" if they didn't even test them properly? Sounds really nuts to me.
And even if they sound a little different to the real hardware doesn't mean they're snake oil. Inphonik plugins are good for what they are, I'm really happy with their 16bit synth, and the FX are nice, too.
