haha true. Honestly tho, you can make substantial money from spotify. Sure they are robbing you, but it can add up if you hold rights to the master

Nah. Unless you're a major label poster child or independent label-free solo artist anomaly regularly pulling tens of millions of streams, that is to say new streams each and every month, you wont earn enough royalties to even reach a poverty level income. It is literally the worst possible place to put your music if earning royalties is your goal.

But hey, I understand there are ways to manipulate their system, although they are wise to most of it these days... Spotify itself is one big "cheating" scam, so more power to ya if ya can "cheat" right back!

Me, I have better things to do with my life and my music.

In my opinion, you don't need to be very active in business. Do good work, business will come to you. It is the same in all economies. Anyone who does a good job will find a customer and his job will be guaranteed. People are worried about their jobs if they don't produce good works or don't care much about customers' tastes. The economy always works based on the customer. You have to see how to create a balance between the work you make and the customers so that both the quality of your work is high and the customers come to you. For example, if you make 10 good songs, your path will definitely become smooth.

it seems logical, but I am totally against that idea, well at least for me. A wise man once told me, good music are meant to be discovered, not shove down your throats. From experience 99% of the music I like are those that I found, discovered accidentally and watched live even the big artists out there. I tend to not like music when the artist themselves (or label) advertised even they are big enough everybody knows them. Promotion is good but gotta think some good way of doing it, as example, perform live at places nobody knows you. Falling in love with things you watch live tend to stay forever with you. May not apply to everyone or everywhere or if the music is not good. One of my fav band ever was once be on the cover of a big magazine with the headline "The Biggest Band You've Never Heard Of" after 20 years of their foundation and countless of festival headlining. Coolest thing ever. So, the lesson here is make good music and play live! people will discover you one day. Not helping at all, I know :p
