hey guys, need some help getting into a phone thats not activated but was given to me thanks. iphone 6s ios 15.4.1 so far i can't figure out how to downgrade it so that i can jailbreak it with checkrain. The tools i've tried either don't detect it or some detect it but it doesn't work.

can't you just DFU restore it to original baseband, factory shipped iOS, etc. then start over.

not really sure what that is. the main problem is that its locked to the original owner's apple id and password. i can't get past the activation window and jailbreaking 15.4.1 is not out yet. i've upgraded it to latest ios with itunes but now i'm trying to downgrade the unsigned firmware some how.

the 6s was the last one I had before switching to android. DFU restore will factory reset it via iTunes. you have to start unlocking it over completely, usually. I don't know anything about the newest iOS versions. I didn't like the 6, it was a replacement for my 5s that I dropped into about 3000 feet of water.

screwing with out of warranty devices and software is one thing, but you are going to have trouble finding someone to unlock that.

ios 14 or even any ios before 15.4.1 is not signed by apple. They do this to prevent jailbreaking. You can only downgrade to an unsigned ios if you have saved the shsh blobs for that ios version for your phone (blobs are tied to your phone). So you cant downgrade at all.

plus if its icloud locked theres really not much you can do, checkrain can remove some restrictions but i think you still need a jailbreak before anything. So unless you can get your friend to do the necessary, youre out of luck here.

you'd need latest iOS to install+use apps from AppStore anyway...

I texted the original owner she said she would delete the device from her crapple account after easter. so all's good. the problem was she has find my phone enabled. should work after she removes device from her icloud account.

If you're having trouble activating your iPhone 6s and want to downgrade it for jailbreaking with checkra1n, here's what you can do:

Ensure the iOS version you want to downgrade to is compatible and signed by Apple. Disable Find My iPhone on the device. Put your iPhone into Recovery Mode. Use iTunes or Finder to restore your iPhone using the IPSW file of the desired iOS version. After downgrading, follow checkra1n's instructions to jailbreak your iPhone. This process should help you get your iPhone 6s ready for jailbreaking.
