Well Pro Tools 10 is here everyone!!

I for one think it is a joke!!! How about getting PT9 right first avid?

I have to use pro tools for a large part of my job as an audio post engineer and I can tell you with bitter experience that PT9 is not yet fully supported and to release a new version demonstrates a lack of respect for its huge customer base!!!

Seriously it was only a month ago that when booting up to start my mornings work (on an important project with really tight deadlines) that pro tools informed me that a "critical update" was available, now knowing avid's legendary (or lack of) customer support, experience told me not to just install this update, as avid would have you do, but to wait as this more often than not totally f*$ks with your setup and if you manage to get it to boot up you will definitely be messing about with some setting or another, and therefore loosing a major part of my working day. Upon deciding to have a quick glance at the relase notes for the update i quickly discovered that this was a BETA update and came with warnings about stability :snuffy:

Get real Avid!! You wax lyrical about the professional DAW of choice and yet have the nerve to release a beta on your pro tools 9 customers a couple of weeks before you release version 10....What was this update a test bed for PT10 features..

That leaves me more than a little mad, if I had the choice I would not ever ever ever use your SHITTY, DINOSAUR, BLOATED OLD CODE, ANTIQUE ATTITUDE, PIECE OF CRAP SOFTWARE....EVER AGAIN...YOU TOSSERS!!!!! (for those wondering why i have to use it, it standard practice in audio post to share projects direct form avid media composer via OMF/AAF which we do at work between edit suites ect).

I believe you can use a gain control within your clips "Oh WOW amazing!!!!! My God Ive been asking about that for 10 years!!!!"

As you can probably tell I am getting madder and madder as I write so I think its time to stop but I long for the day when somebody like Ableton come along and decide to shake it up a bit and offer a genuine audio post alternative...

    i feel you brother..

I already sold my Pro Tools 9..
I am a Student..Studying to Hope in Post Production..i Even made a thread here hoping for an alternative Post Production DAW..i ended up trying Adobe Audition as per others recommend..Nuendo is too Much for me..i just wish i can afford it..

Pro Tools 9 is as buggy as Hell... i hope they managed to fixed 1st PT9..before having the guts to charge for an Upgrade..
Its like PT9 has just been released a year ago..

They forgot about their customers... they forgot that not all PT users were not big folks who owns several copies of PT HD and big studios..most were just like having a bedroom studio like mine..

1.this is going Nowhere..Laying off 200 Avid Employees ( maybe those includes customer supports )
2.most people werent going to upgrade..others have shifted to other daws already ( so do i)
3.i see Pro tools 11 coming after 6 months lol..and then abandons support for PT10 haha..just like in PT9
4.if you skip the upgrade from Pt9 to Pt10 ..theyll even charge you more..haha

    just my two cents..

I sold AVoID ProFools 9 as well as the ProFools Instrument Expansion Pack.
ProFools is the most unreliable piece of S...oftware in the world :)

    Cick Master Sync,
Let me clarify some things in your posting above. First off, PT 9.05 served two purposes. It was indeed a critical release of PT9 for OSX 10.6.8. It also served as a Beta release for OSX 10.7 (Lion). Avid sucks for the way they released 10, and especially the exorbitant prices they are charging for it! Their stock is in the shitter, and they screw with their user base, WTF? On the other hand, users are saying 10 is the best, and most stable release of PT in years! They are indeed way behind the times in their features etc.., but they're also the industry standard. One really has to wonder if they are still going to be around in their current form in the near future due to their financial difficulties, and the sheer incompetence of their upper management!

Thanks for the clarification, if PT10 is as good as people are saying I will take the plunge, eventually, but I will wait until the dust settles. Lets hope that the upper management get a grip soon and treat their customers with a modicum of respect or as you quite rightly suspect they may not be the standard much longer..

protools is a PIECE i used it years ago and i did not like it then and they were pumping pro tools 9 so much i tried it thank god i did not buy it els i would of asked for my money back cubase 5/6 is the best for me i think the reason people always want to go with pro tools is because every says that it is the industry standard but a lot of nice studios use cubase to
