When I was young, her songs was everywhere, so her music has always been a non-negligible part of my French culture... She had also a tremendous influence in Japan: an entire part of the J-Pop was deeply impregnated by her early songs. Still todays, when I hear some anime songs, I'm surprise by the way the voice melody, the reverb, the orchestration, etc... reminds me something about her own early style. Just a thing that I always found a little sad though: internationally, she is almost only renowned with her old 60's / 70's songs who becomes someway "classic Pop standards" around the world. But the later, very modern songs she recorded during the 80's, 90's... etc until 2018 (the last official studio album I'm aware of: "Personne d'Autre") , is almost ignored by the general "classic pop-oriented" international audience. Even if she haven't the appearance, the behavior nor all the bells and wishes one could expect from a "Star" (in the traditional perception we have of this status), for a part of the audience, she will eternally remains an actual "Pop Star", and an icon.
