And how do you rate their products in a crowded market? Have they got any stand out plugins? It's a brand we don't hear about very much, and their prices seem decent.

I tried their stuff some time ago, really liked their console emulations and the TuCo comp, couldn't find a reason to keep them over what i already had, but they do deliver.

Console emulations are great, and using them for gain staging is more useful than it seems at first after you get used to using them: I usually use clip gain on my tracks and then one of their console emus in the first insert (when I decide to use them) to give an extra gain staging fader and leaving the main volume fader open more more adjustments later. EQs sound really good and I'd say are pretty underrated.

I like them! Fits well in my UAD/Acustica/etc lineup

Are they updating/improving their plugins in line with best practices or are they frozen in time?

    I see they've got a nice blog too ... https://sonimus.com/blog

They are quite good, I'd say better than the Lindell's plugin for both Neve and API console emulation. I don't like their SSL's interpretation, already got used to brainworx/Waves. Sonimus Burnley 73 is my goto for 1073 style eq/pre. It used to be Black Rooster Audio's VPRE73 Halloween Edition. Only EQs and console emu for me, their compressors... hmm, not really my cup of tea. Tested both the G Bus style and the Tuco, I guess they don't have what I'm looking for.

I haven't tried all of them, but the few I did are now permanently in my templates. The N and A console channels are exquisite, and so is the Burnley 73. The TuCo comp is versatile, very practical to use with its features, and can be set up to do a lot of different things. These are the ones I've used extensively and found to be excellent.

    No. Crapy plugins.
    Obvious audible audio degradation.
Blind test it on transient heavy music.
Normalize to LUFS-I. 1/2 bar long.
    Fast flip blindly.
This is basically one advice you need to test any plugins and avoid garbage in your setup.

Hey you can go back to your airwindows and AnalogObsessions...

Your test cannot compete with the ears of humanz as they are subject to be trolled like in an enchanted forest where lurks not so nice personna that wishes you to die in the dark

until then mix with your heart and not with your ears

you need to work on positivity and colors... REDRUM is a great movie but it's not you who did direct it

+ the shining in you was programmed by gadreel to deceive you & so try to at least avoid deceiving others... use your heart not your snakebites

    ----------------------

On the positive side did you test these plugs I've talk about ?

I have beta-tested for Sonimus and spoke with the developer many times. They are a good company that takes pride in building quality plugs. They are very good at creating quality analog emulations for a reasonable cost. Their stuff is not transparent, if that's what you are after. Their stuff colors.

I like Burnley and Satson, and dig the buss of A-Channel. The others are 'ok' for me, except for the compressors, which for my ears sound kinda dull and 2 dimensional.

my template has the Sonimus API emulation on BUSSES and Stereo BUSS, and used to have the Lindell API, but decided to switch to Sonimus for the color and for the workflow

the "main console" you put on the Stereo BUSS can be used to mix/color the other busses in a convenient way, you can also switch the whole template to "no color" so for gain stage only. The concept is very interesting and comfy both for coloring or for gain staging only

I also use a lot the Burnley also. I enjoy it in a particular workflow. I have setup with Waves Studiorack a mini template where I have the burnley in MID-SIDE mode, its amazing how it can widen the single tracks (synths, guitars and other edgy sounds in the mid range) or make em shine

Only used Satson console emu and remember it sounded really good but eventually changed to Nebula with AlexB consoles, mainly 9KC here.

If you really are curious, download the plugins that interest you & demo them in a few project/session mixes. This will give an understanding of how they function (after reading the user guides) and, they really offer sonic improvement over stock plugins. Also how they hold up against other devs.

Never experienced any dropouts or crashes when I tested the releases from the sister site or the actual demos. Will have to go back and test their latest after re-configuring my setup. The ones I did like were preferred over Waves plugins for sure.
