I hope Universal Audio eventually switch to machine based authorisation too. I like their plugins (and the prices are ok too), but right now I can't really use them.

 

Universal audio have ilok authorization for the spark bundle basically the native plugins .
you can get 15days free , i think you need to have ilok account no dongle or usb required .

 

I was confused too, reason why I initially thought they were dropping iLok.

But in reality, I believe there are 3 ways of using iLok (someone correct me if I'm wrong):

1. Cloud (which requires constant internet access, keys are stored in their servers)
2. Dongle (which requires dongle, keys are stored in it)
3. Machine Based (which I believe stores a license in your device and regularly checks it with the internet)

UADx only supports the first two.

By the way, machine based is very non-spoken subject at iLok website.

 

Machine Based needs Internet Connection only while registration to the machine. after registration its an always offline license.

Even if the machine breaks you can still deregister the machine via ilok manager and re-authorize with a new machine.

 

I always had problems with Cloud based ilok. Good move from Sonnox.
