It simply is the consequence of the elitism mentality of music producers. Getting rid of this mentality gets rid of a lot of people earning a lot of money.
So the logical consequence for them is to prevent this from happening.

However I am very confident (but also just optimistic) that evidence will always be what people strive for on a long term basis.

 

gearspace is very heavy handed with the moderation / censorship.

 

I've been banned from at least 3 Acustica thread for just mentioning I was banned from the main Acqua thread.

In fact yesterday after they shut the main Acqua thread down, an Acqua part II thread was started and in that thread a mod posted that the Acqua I thread would be reopened.. I asked the mod if when it opened could I have my ban removed as it's been 2 yeas and I never violated any forum rules to begin with, several other posters commented too. I was then banned from that Acqua Part II thread, lol.

So Gearspace will ban for posting questions to mods or for just mentioning the censorship on Gearspace.

GS and KVR are just another "influencing" outlet, over the top censorship, marketing and fanboys, what I love about this place is that people aren't influenced by their GAS, buyers remorse and don't have to kiss any developers ass on the way while being censored and bullied by other toxic fanboy collective. Sure, there's hoarding issues and ungrateful pricks like everywhere, but plenty of folks are genuine and in no BS mindset.

 

I haven't watched the video yet, but normally I could guess whose side of the situation I might agree with more, before watching. This one is a coin flip. They seem so perfect for one another.

 

It's everwhere and all about the money and only about the money. Look up the history on how gearspace - the place formerly known as gearslutz - came into being: there were people conned out by the nowadays bosses in the most corrupt and evil ways. I was banned for 5 months because of criticising Harrison on the grounds of that the TOS says that critic on developers and advertisers is forbidden. There you have it: money from advertiser = no critics. I was naive. Never read the TOS. Whatever.

So ... I think Acqua Nebula and the whole shebang is snake oil of the purest form. Doesn't work and/or sounds like shit. Meaning: only sounds to people who believe that it does some good things to sound. It's for fanbois and believers. I don't care. All that blabbering about "analog like" and "subtleties". These do not exist. Subtleties is another word for "play tricks with your own brain". So for not so bright people. I consider myself not not so bright and am on the side of "there is no subtlety Pro-Q 3 can't replace".

 

It is basically the usual "intellectual property" blabla.
And the more the company is small, the more it is aggressive.

Did you seen MesaBoogie sue anyone pretending to recreate "Dual Rectifier" ?
Just change the name to "Dual b00bifier" and roll.
I don't even speak about how many PROFILES are made with "dual rectifier" in the name ...

One thing i remember with Gearslutz is when Steven Slate made a DIGITAL copy of Acustica Audio consoles (because YES Steven Slate consoles are AA copies ... funny when ppl tell they are totally different), GS simply locked the thread were AA Giancarlo was proving his discovery by using frequency responses from his consoles. Freq signature being unique to each console.
And telling how SS devs bought his products ... to make copies of them. SS devs told they bought them ... but never admitted they cloned them.

I'm not an AA fanboy, but i hate LIES from anyone.
YES Steven Slate could clone AA products by profiling them (AA done it on real consoles) ... but did they told their clients : "we captured AA captures" ?

 

You make a good point there. It's a funny thing about "borrowing IP" also, that some companies will just let it go on forever, seemingly; and then one day they have a change of direction and sue anyone and everyone they can.

The guy making the video starts going on about some issue from 2018. They all have some stake in the issue, so I'm done watching. It would not even surprise me in the least if this is some cooked up new "controversy" scheme for AA to sell more plugins by saying they "stole IRs, profiles, etc". There is not a lot below some of these sorts of people.
