foobar2000 for android: play next folder, when current is done

    seems like such an obvious feature that i can't believe it's not there. :woot:
    is there any way to achieve this?

    I think there is no other option than just manually select all folders with music and treat them like one big playlist.


    STEP 1
    Click on "Tools"

    STEP 2

    Click on "Media Library"

    STEP 3

    Manually add all folders with music by clicking "+ FOLDER"

    STEP 4

    Go back to main view and click "Title". You will have all tracks from all previously selected folders.

    Poweramp. Nothing beats it. I've got 200 gigs of music library. It handles everything smoothly.

    ohh that would really mess with my music organization :sad:

    i remember i used it before foobar2000 was released on android. it's a shame to move back to it, just because of this little flaw :(

    I don't think of this behaviour as a flaw in foobar. I want it exactly that way: an album comes to its end and foobar stops. Then I decide on which album to play next. Exactly what I want. How the heck should I know what album I want to hear after Abbey Road? :)

    next outside of that folder of course.

    so for example i'm listening to Album 1, when it's done the player starts Album 2, after that Artist 2 and so on.

    In Step 4 instead of "Title" try "Album Artist / Album".
    Maybe it will give you the result you want. But all of this is based on the tags inside the files.

    and what if i have a VA compilation? :no: it's just not how i organize my collection. on my computer i use folder structure with my own playlists.

    another problem is that in i cannot save/export playlists in foobar with relative paths, so they would open correctly in foobar android app.

    and of course foobar has no support for android auto :sad:

    I would like that feature too, I couldn't find it in foobar either, nor in AIMP, which is my second music player of choice. My music is also sorted in a folder structure.

    But I have found a solution at least for Windows: VLC works very well for this: menu / media / open folder - then menu / view / playlist. I've just tested it by playing the last track in a folder, it moves to the next folder perfectly and the playlist gives a good overview.

    There is VLC for android but I don't know if it has this function :dunno:

    yes i tried VLC on android already, don't remember why i didn't like it. Have you tested Poweramp for this feature?

    I haven't ever tried Poweramp, I've always been a Foobar2000 user (and tried AIMP for a while because I like the style of it). I could never get away with VLC either, as a video or audio player. I use PotPlayer for video. But I was impressed by how well VLC delivered the folder playing experience for audio files, it's very clean. I think if it works similarly on Android you may like it for that purpose.

    I have the opposite purpose on Android players: playing all tracks in a folder (let's say "mymp3") with all its subfolders, but like it was one only (folder), for DLNA server on PC.

    So far I managed that with VLC; Network->DLNA->Audio->Folders->"mymp3" (folder+subfolders), context menu->Play, then random.

    I'm trying foobar (Android) but it's trickier: from Media Servers it sees mymp3 DLNA folder, but it doesn't have the Play option, only create playlist (to play after), that by BTW at times works (I created a playlist with all my mp3s), most times it doesn't ("Creating playlist" then nothing happens), while the procedure works fine with local folders.

    Playlists are static, so if there are changes I have to redo the procedure all over again, so I think that for the moment I'll stick with VLC, though there are better (paid) players, being Neutron player the best I tried so far.
    Edit: the best also for DLNA management.

    At first sight it seems it doesn't support DLNA, that I need.
