    Hi,

I'm trying to recreate this guitar melody:

Do you think this is a live instrument recording?
Do you know a VST that can help me getting close to this?

    Thank you!

    It's obviously a real guitar.
Don't know of a VSTi that would do it like this, but I know a real guitar would do it in 10 seconds.

There is a slight slap on the strings, plus whoever is playing is using their fingernails so I'm guessing that it will be easier to find hen's teeth than it would be to find a VST to recreate this. The closest you may get is something from Orange Tree with plenty of reverb, but it will never sound accurate

It sounds like a real guitar thru a clean amp setting & spring reverb

Those strings are being plucked as well as strummed. The opening notes are played together by plucking them simultaneously, then arpegio are played (open chords) sounds like mostly two chords being played back and forth
keyboard is doubling the guitar later in the song when the whispering over the music happens. there is a percussive element, but its not fingernails, I think its one of those percussion elements you play with a stick on a ridged gourd or something along those lines..

Thanks for breaking down the instrumentation! It's interesting to hear how the strings are being both plucked and strummed, creating a notable tune.

dunno if its because this kind of playing 'slow RnB ballad arpeggio' always sound the same to me,
but it shouldn't be too hard to find something similar on splice or wheresoever

if you read the information on youtube under the video, there is a link to
    https://www.thaibeats.com/

in the search box put in "affection" without the quotes

you'll get 3 listings, its the same guitar in 3 different tracks to show how it can be used and to offer licensing for
    other uses like soundtrack etc.

the beats are for sale under various licensing schemes depending on what your future use is.
you can get the stems for 99$ with license. (thats the cheapest license that includes stems)

There is a download link for the 1st track, which is not the one you have here, but it is similar.
    its called

FREE DOWNLOAD Affection (Guitar Afrobeat Type Beat)

you'll need to give them an email acct and create a password, you now have an account with thaibeats
they will send a link to that email, it will have a 4 digit code to download the beat as 320kbs mp3 44.1 cd quality.
from that you may be able to slice enough bits out of the song to create the sample you want.

Drum Pack & Sound Kits: https://loopstacks.com/ i tried going to site, but couldn't connect. archive.org has a copy of site
made yesterday so I think the site is still ongoing, just not connecting right now. archive.org doesn't have a copy of the content (loops) from the sites in its backup.

from the video info on youtube
Term of Use: Free downloads are available for demo and non-profit purposes only, Please purchase a license to use this beat instrumental commercially. Any unauthorised use of the beats, including commercial use of tagged beats as well as unauthorised reselling, is considered a direct violation of the copyright law and is infringing upon the copyrights of the works of THAIBEATS. The police car may have been "borrowed" for the video, since the budget didn't include lease/purchase/rental....

That's highly likely, aside from budgetary constraint, they may have also considered legal implications of having that.

what sort of genre would you place that song into, it seems to be a cross between rap, lofi and slowave with vocals in spanish layered with autotune for note shifting. there's really only 3 sets, but seems like more cause the camera movement. I can't speak on the talent of the musician/performers (since the riff was licensed, they may not even be able to play), but the camera operator was quite good and who ever did the lighting got it right.

here's a lo budget video by a guy that does his own music, that is fun and interesting to watch.
pete cannon - here we go again - a touch of pet shop boys..

as a guitarist, the whole thing seems very clean and without artifacts to me ! with such playing techniques you should be able to hear the strings and the noise that goes with them much better, i'm guessing vst ... the whole thing seems a bit too artificial to me

i noticed the lack of string noise myself, and figured a noise gate or it was processed in izotope or some other noise filtering software. A piezo pickup doesn't usually pickup string noise either, so perhaps some combination of mic'ing and piezo blended with noise reduction. It is a very clean sounding acoustic guitar. Then again the entire riff is between 20-30 seconds so not too big a sample to make cleaning it up fairly easy.
