My ex insisted I was communicating the things I wasn't saying out loud with music. She'd go over my recently played songs and gauge my emotional state based on those songs' lyrics. It drove me nuts. I couldn't convince her that I just don't care about the lyrics most of the time - much of the music I listen to has non-sensical lyrics to begin with. I had to carefully choose what I listen to, to stop her from getting upset with me.

"Oh, you're listening to that funeral doom song again. Are you sad, depressed?"
"I just like the song :|"

Interesting. I would play/perform some songs to my ex exactly because I liked the lyrics, and I love good lyrics. But it didn't help in the end. Probably the opposite...

i'll probably never have a partner, but
i have a lot of girl friends, unfortunately 95% have a terrible musical taste.
i mean "bad bunny"; "dj khaled" bad
the other 5% is already committed to someone else

My gf was the bass player in a local band, while I was the drummer in another band, during the 90s. We played the same shows and met backstage and became friends and it all evolved from there. I feel so fortunate to have a gf/"wife" who is very supportive and understanding of my musical/work habits (including my job as a mastering engineer). She's the one pushing me to upload new music (my own solo stuff) to Spotify. We are even starting a new band together, with two other mutual friends. We will just write some tunes and then set out to have our first rehearsal. This will be the first band we have together. Maybe it will end in a "divorce"..or at least a band-split. Haha.

im not in a relationship now but pretty much every girl ive ever dated has, so much of my life is revolved around it, it would be weird if they werent. all it does is cause drama in my experience tbh

it can be fun, you can mess with them when they know youll put shit in songs about them and a lot of people will hear it. which gets different reactions depending on the person - like i remember this one girl would do shit and like set up situations to try and manipulate me into writing a song about it; then i wouldnt, cause fuck that shit, but that would cause issues - she would try to act like she was trying to be helpful and have an attitude about it when i would show her a song i was working on, that had nothing to do with her

or like this one, if she was mad at me; she would talk shit about my music, or if a song plays by someone she would say shit like, “now thats how you write a song” or “this is real music”, “i wish you could write songs like this” etc. which i didnt care what that bitch thought, it was obvious what she was doing

one girl felt like she was in competition with my music; id be gone for months touring, then when im not touring im working on it all the time, it wasnt enough attention for her. so she hated my music because she thought i cared about it more than her, which i did. eventually she broke up with me. later i saw a tweet from her that was subliminal towards me, about how she learned to value herself from dating me and how women need to not accept less no matter what, which i liked, then she blocked me lol

I've always lived in big cities, so meeting people with similar interests has never been an issue. I'd go a step further and say I can't really imagine forming a meaningful relationship with someone who has absolutely no interest in such an integral part of my life, and vice versa me with their passions.

Can anyone give me some brief insight into why they find it difficult to meet someone with similar interests?

Whenever I play a track of mine to my wife she asks me when I am going to sell it… She would like to drive the new BMW… I sometimes think that she wants to be my driver to the gigs… or not…? Apart from it, in the most critical moments while being on hype during creating the new track she ALWAYS supports me calling me: “dinner on the table” or “good movie on TV”… She is very involved in making music…

    Somewhat.

While she is into my music (and definitely my biggest fan and supporter), she also happens to manage me. She is not into music, in general, at the level most people here tend to be.

Being a musician,/performer I realize its only an ego, that desperately needs validation, and that mine is so BIG, even if she, or anyone, was into my music, I would still find fault with their response because the ego is insecure.

Psicological test before getting engaged: (use autogenerated subtitles)

"And do you have a couple?"
    "Yes"
"And the reason to end, was about you condition?
"I always throw away them. I just did something to make them live, me remaining as the good one and they would be like the bad ones, the crazy ones "
