I know it is a matter of taste, but i tried pulling a high shelf up for a few db-s and the mix can take it quite nicely!It brings up the kick transient a tiny bit too. For sure a track worth working on until is perfecto.

 

theres kind of no character or passion; not to say you dont have passion, but it doesnt come across in this. its like very sterile and almost colorless. for the style, its like someone else is thinking for you artistically and telling you what is acceptable to do. like marching in a straight line; and anything that breaks formation is punished. its too safe to be memorable, nothing stands out about it. it doesnt add anything to the style, its just copy/pasting ideas, which makes it lose identity

i do admire there was at least some effort to be creative lyrically. though considering the context of the music (while dancing), it will go over most peoples heads, and might as well not be anything, towards the back half its almost unintelligable whats being said, with the way its mixed and the wording. a good example of lyrics in this style and what i mean would be this

like the way its worded makes it easy to digest whats being said while dancing; while still having something to say, that has some sort of feeling and imagery. It enhances, which with most electronic dance music, thats the main job since its far from the focus. with the lyrics in your song, they might as well not even be there. if it was like folk, it would stand out more; here it just adds to making this song like wallpaper

- thats just what i think when I hear it - i do respect you sharing your music with others and being open to feedback though. also not following trends of whats popular in EDM right now and making what you like

 

To comment all that, and then with a follow up link to a deadmau5 track is a joke. You know your track is going the right direction when the trolls cannot help but respond with this sort of thing, with a link to someone else's music and not their own.

 

cool song. im a sucker for cheesy edm. been raving for 25 years or so, it will always have a special place in my heart.

As reticular pointed out, i think the track could have a little more spice in the top end. maybe, maybe a tad more sub too. like 1.5 db, just to make things thump a little more.

 

Song is catchy and nice. My suggestions would be use kicks that punches well. Try (kicks by 7 skies, origin sounds, splice packs) and the bass sound selection is good, but you can process it further to make it pop out. Spire default bank has some good strong bass sounds similar to what you've used.

Structure needs to be rearranged, you can always copy your favorite song structure. I've roughly rearranged your song, so that you can get an idea, sorry that I rearranged it without your permission, it'll automatically get deleted after 24 hours.

deadmau5 influenced slap house highly during the time period, that song also serves the point i was making; not because of who it is; but because of the songwriting, thats why i posted it. i have many other examples, because i know wtf im talking about

i can post my music and turn this whole site into a fanbase, i make a living do this. but thats not needed to give my opinions on a track to help elevate it. if you have anything constructive to add, thats more useful then getting upset and trying to insult me for sharing my honest thoughts, i was asked for

if its your favorite song, you have the rest of your life to enjoy it; support him in actual useful ways, listen too it as often as possible, buy it if you can. babying him against any critical opinion is not useful for an artist, this isnt a child im talking too. its a person looking for feedback and i have an expert opinion with songwriting in many styles

I happen to agree with Grape Ape. I also think that people with serious anger issues (like you) pollute the internet. Get some help, mate.

 

Everyone has their own idea of music and every step takes you further.
The fact that not everyone likes everything, doesn't mean that the artist doesn't put their heart and soul into their music.
You can always make everything better, but at some point you reach a point, where you should just stop tinkering with the song.

at a certain point as an artist, you hit a level where most people around you; dont really know how to tell you how to get better. i can see clearly the awareness needed to reach more people (which is seems to me by this song; theyre trying to be more commercial) with this style of house music. people also respond differently when its you showing them your music; versus if they just heard something randomly on TV or out in the world

i also understand where youre coming from; but in reality, people dont care how hard you worked on something, till after they like it. its meaningful to us; but random people rarely care about that. i mean look at some of the responses about deadmau5 in this thread, they discredit all of what he put into his music; but just because hes established and has a large fanbase, they think its okay - but hes still a fellow artist, thats the reality
