What workhorse synth would you buy if you couldn't get Omnisphere?

@4096 Nice ! I forgot about ANA2, good one aswell with sample capabilities, your stuff look nice ! :mates:

Do you do .meta .db or .json based UI/UX or only .png directories ?
I'm trying to changes de GUI of NI RAUM, PHASIS, FLAIR, and CHORAL but it's not .pnj or .jpg so I don't know how it works lol

Mainly that would be to bring the power of Serum LFO's modulation madness and visual feedback to DUNE 3.

Considering your budget, I would go with DSP56300Emu too as it is free, then Vital which has a free version too and cardinal rack if you like modular stuff, again free. Especially the Virus TI is really nice. You need a recent processor though. Vital can load all kinds of wavetables, so you would be able to create a wide array of sounds with it as well and there are tons of free wavetables around that you can use.

Using all these you should be able to at least create most synth sounds you can imagine. And you wouldn't have to spend any money.

For sampled sounds you could go with the EMU-X option, I can't say much about it because I have not used it. It might take some time to download and convert the sounds though but then again, it seemed like you will be able to get a lot of value, again for free.

If you still want to spend money, you could get Arturia Pigments once it is on sale, or second hand. If you are a bit lucky you can get it for something like 50-70€ so that should be well inside your budget. I like the modulation options it has a lot. Creating sounds with it is a lot of fun.

Sell everything you have, buy Omnisphere and buy back what you have slowly one by one in time, maybe in one year, if you miss them of course. I think the excitement you get with getting Omnisphere will definitely top sadness for losing.. say Ana2, if it's possible to sell that one i dont really know, never bought Slate's (or Sonic Academy) stuff. You can finish a track with just Omnisphere remember ? it's time to take a leap. Fortune favors the bold. If you can't maybe you don't even need it at the first place. Then maybe check out Zebra or PhasePlant. Also the new OsTIrus is dope IMO.

What are you listening on to experience this "rich sound"? Just wondering because in my experience virtually all of the mentions synths have a richness to their sound, but that can sometimes be affected by listening environment, equipment etc, just so you're sure your not being swooned by Omnisphere deceptively, just because it performs better on your equipment, e.g. if you're using tiny 3" monitor speakers for your listening.

there is nothing deceptive about Omnisphere's sound quality. If you compare two or more synths, using the same monitors; you will be able to tell the difference between them. It's ten years old as v2, and many people still use it every day.

Not sure I agree with this. Some synths perform better in the low, mid, and top end of frequency spectrum and some are broad spectrum and sound good generally. This means some synths needs better listening environment to properly appreciate them. Listening experience is not linear when synths are all coded differently and behave/perform differently at different frequencies in my opinion.

Thanks for the idea. Sounds great and is super low on cpu.

    edit

I got some sounds, some I won't use but some I will. great drums to layer, orchestra stuff nice, bass not bad, throw a gforce axxess on it and you can get something nice.
