Sure, but that snare drum is heavily processed to sound like that, you need to apply the processes that the other users mentioned above.

Impossible, the TANGO album by Charly García and Pedro Aznar was released in 1985, the HR16 was released in 1987 approx. The definitive snare was taken from an Oberheim DMX drum machine.

Ok, I have no idea when that record came out.

And I know the HR16 came out after 1985 for sure, as I owned one of those things.

But there are many ways to skin a cat, (and I don't know who the hell would want to skin a cat, and those who do, I want nothing to do with :) )...

But this isn't some mystery "alchemy" of "definitive best snare" ever kinda thing lol.

    And that was my point.

I get the OP wants that sound, and if he can't deal with sampling it, it's honestly a sound pretty much anyone with some experience could recreate without a whole lot of fuss and muss.

It's a fine snare, but pretty run of the mill/middle of the road snare probably on tons of damn Vengeance packs.

    DMX/LM1/SR16/whatever.

Sorry for the delay, I've been busy.

I update. I decided to download DMX samples, and that made it.

I took a raw Oberheim DMX snare sample, then applied EQ, some compression and saturation and that finally matched the closest to the original sound.

I'm rookie and I never expected of that snare coming from a DMX drum machine. It took me by surprise. :woot:

Linndrum, DMX, DX, all of these machines, sometimes give place to confuse, because they sound very similar and close to each other. They have in common that punchy, short and muffled tail sounding snare.

After hearing the song, I instantly liked it.

Thank you so much to everyone for the help and your time to answer my question with detailed info, I really apreciate this.:winker:

I proceed to select a best answer to mark this conversation as "solved", but as I said before, all the answers were apreciated.

I'll start making a few tracks using this drum machine samples and with the info I learned today.

    See you soon. Cheers!
