It's not completely true. Yes, anyone can make Kontakt libraries but it is possible to use them in full Kontakt only (not in Kontakt Player). Makers of libraries that you can use in Kontakt Player must purchase a sort of licence from NI.

From the developer' point of view Kontakt for years was the single crossplatform way to protect their libraries. Yes, now we have UVI Falcon and Halion but they are significantly "younger" in this respect.

Very tricky scheme. And this scheme is attractive for developers.

 

There's always DOOR#2 if completely dissatisfied...

I am surprised nobody has mentioned it considering how many wavetable synths and alternative sample engines are out there..

Make your own sample library. Then the only person you can say the samples or end-product are good or bad to is yourself.

 

Personally I think it's extremely valuable to have most of my libraries in the kontakt format. Being able to dig into a library using familiar tools and customise them to suit my workflow is gold.

For example, being able to go in and remove expensive DSP in order to use a shared DSP in the DAW instead. You can open the library and do what you want.

That would take like two weeks without a guarantee that the 3digit ID would still conflict sooner or later

My idea is better: Native instruments spends like half day on this and comes up with something that works.
Idea 2 : Do kontakt emulator that skips the whole piece of crap plugin alltogether

 

Without kontakt we would have a better world with even more sample libraries so this is an un-argument

Meltdown is your own projection of my feelings because you got angry reading me disagree with your favorite program, or maybe you work with that company, we can never know we are online. But you anyway felt you need to come up with personal insults

I felt nothing making this thread and i feel its a problem that needs to be solved.

 

That's a lot of assumptions. I actually agree with you, Kontakt is frustrating and outdated and I don't like using it. But until someone comes along and makes something better, we're stuck with it. So might as well not waste energy getting upset about it.

Someone showed you how to make nicnt files. So what's the problem? It takes two seconds to open a library from a folder anyway

 

Not that it matters, but HALion was released the year before Kontakt.

 

The 3 digit id is the problem. How do i know they wont conflict at some point?

Also the only tool i have looks like this, thats as much as it expands :D I can use it by scrolling with tabulator to insert the id

You can always check what library what ID number (3 digits) has / will have.

You should read my post in this thread in order to see how to create a folder for a kontakt library/libraries. It is the most reliable and organized way to create nicnt files for libraries.

This shows like 1/10th of libraries i have installed and i dont see the id either. It doesnt work. This is the slow process i am talking about and its only because of greedines of NI

 

The list only shows registered libraries; therefore, you don't see all of your libraries. It shows ID numbers.

I've never seen some wuss cry so much about libraries he clearly didn't invest in, pay for, or make, for not having nicnt files ...

I've spent the last 20 years of Kontakt essentially using my libraries that didn't pay NI for the "privilege"/"protection" of having nicnt's just fine.

User folders are easily accessible.

Why can't you do that?

Native Instruments has a lot of problems, and I have my own with them.

But my own laziness and stupidity in theft is not one I'm taking out on them in this case.

But complaining about their greed on something you haven't paid into with either money or time, and apparently intelligence in inability to solve your problem is pretty funny.

 

I already told you how you can solve the problem in a reliable way.

Besides I shared a download link to get the master folder template, so all you need to do is changing library names and ID numbers in Regedit.

You can use this master folder template also for single libraries that don't have a nlcnt file. It is up to you.

It is not difficult at all. All you need is to focus and spend your time for a very well organized kontakt player.
